iXtreme 1.61 will be available via xbins and shortly after on other sources on Tuesday the 27th of this month.
translated it's this....
"As many expected, C4Eva has confirmed that iXtreme 1.61 for the samsung, benq and-would soon be available. We do not have precise information on the date of release, but we can expect to have the firmware here next week. Remains more to be seen if this Ixtreme will be also focused on the readers Hitachi. "
Now anyone who flashes Xbox's already knows supporting Samsung is well, useless most current and modern drives are BenQ and LiteOn and I'm sorry but c4eva worries about those first, he did it with 1.6. Hitachi was never supported in 1.6.....
Also the "real" rumor which was talked about in the chat was that 1.61 just simply removes checking the video sector or wave all together, basically what a stock drive does.
Can't wait so see how it all pans out!

well thats good news
i have a benq flashed with 1.6 when i reflash it with 1.61 do i just dump the current firmware and write the new to it just like i did when it was stock?

I am doubting this is true...
So far, I have heard nothing, and I am looking right where it would be discussed if it were true.
I'll post back if I find anything out, but so far this is most likely an untrue rumor.

We should just let the firmware team take their time and when they release the firmware, great. Everybody knows what happened last time the set a date to for a firmware release. There is absolutely no rush on this firmware. There are ways to play Wave 4 games already and we aren't in the situation like we were with iXtreme 1.5 and Wave 3.

Semi-off topic: does the fact that wave 4 worked for Hitachi and the fact that 1.51 wasn't immediately released for Hitachi (if I remember correctly, which I may not) mean that video partition checking was never present in 1.51 of iXtreme for Hitachi at all? If so, Hitachi's 1.51 was essentially 1.61 before there even was a 1.61 ;)

There are 3 or 4 games. The most notable of the bunch is Tekken 6. The others are crappy and/or kids games. Cars Race-o-Rama or some such, and, umm, some other game that I have no interest in.

Wave 3. Both versions are verified now. The NTSC version has just been added to the database. Only disc 1 seems to be there at the moment though.

As many people expected, C4Eva confirmed that the 1.61 for samsung, benq and liteon ixtreme would soon be available. We have no precise information on the date of release, but can be expected to have firmware by next week.
Now to see if this Ixtreme will also be on the Hitachi drives. To change the new games, you can still use the .iso activate method . For the time being, patience therefore pending the 1.61, Ixtreme and do you inquietez not, the ISO activate will soon join the dustbin.
Rely on Logic-sunrise to offer for download as soon as its output.

Thanks for the info. I'll try running forza 3 through abgx tonight. Hopefully the new Ixtreme 1.61 will be released tonight. I have a BenQ drive. So with 1.61 you don't need to use the activate.iso?

Yes, 1.61 is supposed to eliminate is activate ISO disc. That is kinda the reason they are making it.
