Question about Risen - Strange

I downloaded Risen-Strange from Giganews but it doesn't verify yet? Any idea when it will? Looking at VG Releases and it says in Europe the game is released and 153 days left till its released in the US...kinda wierd.

Check your ABGX version to make sure it is the latest and greatest. Also, make sure it is connecting to the DB when it runs. In addition, be sure to have your autofix set to level 3.

It isn't mate. The one in the abgx360 database is region locked and someone on 360patches said it's German. There is no region free version in the database, so the Strange release won't verify. I made that mistake when I first saw it in the database and I even started a thread on here asking why it wouldn't verify, but they're two different versions of the game.

Okay, I see the discrepancy now.
I have always assumed that abgx.net was the official database of the ABGX360 program. Is this not the case? Because abgx360.net and abgx.net has two separate entries for the same game.
What am I missing here? Who runs the ABGX.net site?

abgx.net lists details of all scene releases, verified or not. The database at abgx360.net only lists games that are verified. I'm pretty sure that they're both run by the same people.

That makes sense, but if that is the case, then why isn't the release that is listed at abgx360.net listed at abgx.net? That is what is confusing me. *shrug*

That's an error. The game was released in the US on October 2nd.

Nope. The official release date for the UK (and presumably Europe) was October 2nd 2009. It's not due out in the US until next year, as you said, but the UK/Euro release is region free. It was out before wave 4 had appeared on the scene. When the US version comes out, that might be wave 4, but if it is, that won't make any difference to the version you've downloaded.

My bad. You guys are right. The release date for the US isn't until 2010. However, the PC version was released in the US on Oct. 2. Stupid MetaCritic....

If you can find a region free version you should be A-OK as long as it is verified. There are legit ways of getting region-free retail games, too. MS has no clue which route you went in order to get the game.

I've got some more info on this from 360patches. One of the admins there got the retail disc and it was region locked to PAL. He tried to upload the stealth files to the database, but the site rejected them because it said that they already existed, so the version that's verified is indeed an English version rather than a German one, but region locked to PAL, so it appears that the UK/Euro release is region locked.
The version released in the Asian market is region free and also has English language options, so it is being speculated that the scene release is a rip of that Asian release. If that's true, the chances of it being verified any time soon are reduced.

I've found the release you want, assuming you're in a PAL region and not in America: -
Risen.PAL.XBOX360-BMP
It verifies against the one in the database and it's an English rip from a copy bought in the UK. The file names are bmp-risen.** and a little bird tells me that you'll find this on Usenet. ;)

Its PAL so it won't work for me, I need Region Free.
