Hey, trying to get someone to help me out here. Here is my problem. My PS3 (60GB launch model) recently got the YLOD, so I followed some tutorials and was able to bring it back to life. However, it only manages to stay on for about 20-30 minutes, at which point it shuts down completely, making three beeps and then, flashing red lights. If I try to turn it on right after it shut down, it´ll give me the yellow light, followed by the flashing red lights. I have to leave it alone for about an hour or so, and then its able to turn on again for another 20-30 minutes.
Anyone knows what could be wrong??? I´ve replaced the thermal paste several times (using arctic ceramique), but the results are still the same... I´ve also double checked all connectors/ribbons and they all seem to be fine...
Sounds like the machine is overheating...have you checked all the fans etc are functioning?
Also, make sure it is not sat in a media centre type enclosure, it should have atleast around 15-20cm free space on all sides.
yeah everything seems to be working fine... I can feel the warm air coming out of the back vents, and the metal covering the mobo feels hot when it shuts down, but the fan is working properly. If I try to restart the system right after it shuts off, the fan will kick into overdrive and turn off again.
