Ok I am new to the board and a little new to modding so at the risk of getting flamed, trolled, yelled at, ect I am going to ask a few questions.

I am trying to mod my Wii and I am researching what all I need to do and what I need to be aware of. If there are threads that can help me please post them here for me. Don't have to type everything out just point me in the right direction.

I have a Wii firmware Version 4.1u.

Question 1 - I saw a guide on 4.1 softmodding, does this include the 4.1u version, or is my Wii further upgraded?

Question 2 - Once my Wii is soft modded can I still use Wii Ware Games (Currently Downloaded, or future downloads)? AND are there HBC versions of the Wiiware games?

Question 3 - Once soft Modded what do I need to be aware of when downloading the games? Regions? Are there things to look out for so I don't brick my system.

Question 4 - Can I use the Wii normally after it is soft modded? Internet, Nintendo Channel, News Channel, Weather Channel, Ect?

Question 5 - Once soft modded can still use Wii games offical releases or do they update the firmware and might brick the system? How about GC Games?

Question 6 - Anything else to keep in mind when modding or after when playing?

OK Sorry for the noobness of all my questions, but part of the way I learn is to talk not to just read. I would rather chance looking like a moron than rush into modding my system and ending up with a brick. So let the fun begin

Kind of hard to answer this question when we have no idea what guide you are actually talking about.

Yes you can use official VC/WiiWare games. Yes you can install VC/WiiWare games using homebrew apps like WAD manager.

Try to download and use games from your region. If you have to use an out of region game then use an application (WiiBrickBlocker) to block the update (most up to date backup launchers will block game disc updates).

Yes you can.

Yes you can still play official Wii/Game Cube games. In order to block game updates on official game disc use homebrew like Preloader to block game disc updates.

The thread I was talking about was http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-154/4_1_and_below_firmware_softmod_guide-all_systems_except_for_korean_linked_4_2_guide-797772/

For the Wiiware/VC games can I find those games around the same place that I find my game backups?

What is WiiBrickBlocker? I understand what it does for the most part.. does it come with the HBC? Is it something else I need to find to add?

Basically what I am understanding about this softmodding is that you will use the HBC for almost everything from this point on? From loading Wii and GC games to backups.. and all the other channels will be fine as long as they don't force you to upgrade to use the service?

If you want to know more about applications I have mentioned then do a Google search on them.

As to you wanting to know if the guide will work on a 4.1U system. I would suggest reading the guide again. It clearly answers that question within the first few sentences of the guide.

Ok I guess I didn't realize the U in the 4.1U was stating the region..

Looked up the WBB program I got it and understand it now. I am sorry I didn't look it up myself.

All of my questions seem to be answered other than

Forgive my ignorance in this matter and thanks for the wisdom. I'm already modding PSPs, and doing R4 cards for NDS, I was just scared of bricking the more expensive system lol.
