i've got an .avi file, its consider xvid.dvdrip. when i try to watch it, its like shaking and jittery, windows media player says error downloading codec when it opens, it plays but its all shaky, ne clue, ive tried some diff codecs.

you cant download an xvid codec off microsoft. FFDShow is the best pack of codecs for the playback of most mpeg-4 files(divx/xvid ect ect)

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm

uninstall all the previous codecs you had and install this, you shouldnt have any problems with playback then
