I recently bought a flashed xbox 360 and am having trouble burning games. I have tried using both DVD decrypter and IMGburn and both give me generally the same problem. When follow the tutorials online my games usually burn to around 30%-%40 and then pop up with this screen:

http://uploadpad.com/files/imgburn.jpg

I have read in some tutorials that with some decrypters you need to change to DVD+R dl and then dvd-rom in the lite on menu of dvd decrypter. When I try and do this I get a message "uknown error" and am unable to change it so I leave it as it is. I am using Memorex dvd+r dl and am using a toshiba satellite m505-s4940 laptop. I have already wasted 3 disks trying different remedies. Please help.

Ok what speed are you burning the discs at? Also, you may want to see if Windows Media Player is open in Task Manager. Even if you don't open it, it still has a process running, and it usually locks the drive, which may be the problem.

So what I would do, is if you see a process for it (should be wmplayer.exe), get ready to burn the disc, and right before you click burn, end the wmplayer process.

This is a DVD burner error 99% of the times I have seen it. 98% of those times it has been a laptop burner, just like with yours.

Burn it in an internal desktop burner and it will burn just fine.

Crap. I dont have a working desktop with a dual layer. What about if I buy an external dual layer burner and connect it to my laptop? Will that be the same as using a desktop with a burner?

External burners sort of suck, too.

What you can do, however, is buy a good-quality internal desktop DVD burner and put it into an external enclosure that has a USB connection.

The burner will cost you about $30 and the enclosure will cost you another $30 or so.

Yeah, it's pretty easy.

Sony Optiarc burners have good views. Pioneer model burners have good reviews, as well.

What do you think about this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-20x-External...=item439aeab5dd

Its not an internal but it is pioneer.

It is possible that it would work, but like I said, external burners suck.

Yeah when I google "External dvd burners to burn xbox 360 games" the seemingly knowlegable consensus seems to pretty much completely agree with you. "the "premade" external burners are nothing but a standard burner stuck into an USB enclosure." for example. I'll have to look into these dvd burners and enclosures this weekend. Thanks for all your help.

There is no such thing. That guy is obviously making a fake video, to get people excited for a bunch of made up crap.

If you want to play 360 backups, your 360 will need to be modded.

So it doesn't really matter on what drive you get (As long as it's either pioneer brand or sony?) Because I have been getting problems when burning my games on my external, I would get 1 out of 10 to work.

Oh just to be sure, I was thinking of buying this one. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Pioneer+-+22...7&skuId=9401989

I kinda don't wanna wait for a drive to show up at my door, since I have already spent a few days trying to figure out what could be the problem too.

I've been using my Pioneer for 3 years, and rarely get a coaster. But that's just with my experience. I would recommend the Pioneer ones though! Great Drive!
