I need a little help installing the new update. I did the update for 1.6 but having issues with this version for some reason. I hooked my BenQ drive to my computer, did BenQ Unlock and Read. When it auto loads the firmware its wanting to load 1.6 not 1.61. I have 1.61 in the jungle flash firmware folder and removed the old fimrware out of there and same thing. I try loading the firmware with target firmware, but then the dvd key for that comes up in all 7's. I have flashed a few BenQ drives with 1.6 so I do have a bit of background knowledge with this. Any ideas on how to get this to work? I am using Jungleflash 1.66b. Does it not recognize the new firmware yet?

means you have the wrong firmware or you didn't put the correct firmware in the firmware folder.

I have a BenQ drive, and put x161-benq in the firmware folder in the jungleflasher folder. But for some reason when it autoloads its looking for 1.6
I found this set of instructions.
MTK FLASH 32
1. Put it in vendor mode using the half open trick.
2. Intro / Device ID
3. Read.
4. Save BENQ-OFW.bin.
4. Don't load firmware automatically - > press NO.
Firmware Tool 32
1. Load Source Firmware -> BENQ-OFW.bin
2. Open Source Target -> ix16-benq.bin
3. Spoof Source to Target.
MTK FLASH 32
1. Write
2. Outro / ATA Reset
I'm going to try this tonight. I was letting it load the firmware automatically. This is maybe why it wasn't working for me.

yeah I want it to auto load 1.61 but it won't, so i'll try this method I found with v.161..know it says 1.6 but should work. I think it was a typo cause I found this in a thread to download v1.61

It should work if you load 1.61 yourself as the target then spoof.

I'm going to try it after work again. I didn't spoof cause I was kinda freaked out when the drive keys didn't match.

the key of the new firmware will be 7777777...... and yours will be different characters, when you press spoof it copies your key instead of all the 7s and all other info then when you press write it writes the new version with all the spoofed info. Once you press spoof and the bottom one changes to the same as the top its safe, unless the top one says 77777.... or 000000..... or 5aa5aa5.... then try to read the key again because that key would be wrong.

The top key looked correct, the bottom was 7777.... This is making some sense now. So my next question is, why is it we have to spoof the key? When I upgraded from 1.51 to 1.6 it autoloaded fine, keys were correct, no sppofing was needed. Is it because the current version of Jungle Flasher is now out of date?

Each xbox and drive has a different key (xbox and drive have the same one) to encrypt and decrypt the game data partition. If you have the wrong key it will show games as dvds and won't play games. If the top key looks ok then you press spoof the bottom key should change into the same key as the top then if it looks valid it's safe to proceed to flash.

I understand all that. But why when I flashed from 1.51 to 1.6 it autoloaded the firmware, keys matched, but for 1.61 its not autoloading and getting the 77777...? I know the top key is correct cause I flashed it before, and i'm going to save my key before sppofing and writing.

I am assuming because Jungle Flasher 1.66b, the latest release, was made as a response to iXtreme 1.6, and so they programmed the software to look for iX 1.6 firmware and not 1.61 firmware.
