I am at school and do not have the ability to use the forums search function, I am hoping by the time I get back home I can search around if i do not get an answer with this topic.
My question is does afterdawn have a list of xbox 360 drives that are flashable? I have done a few flashings but I have been lucky all of them are have been either an hitachi or benq. I just needed to know when I buy my GF a xbox and flash it for her birthday, that I can check at the store if it is flashable or not. I am thinking my luck is gone and I will end up with a phillips or liteon and I just mainly want to be sure what exact drives can and can not be flashed. A sidenote, I am capable of finding and searching on how to flash each drive the only info I need is what drives can and can not be flashed.
There is only one drive that is not currently flashable. It is the newest revision of the Lite-On drive. I believe it is the LiteOn that is model number 83850 and ALSO manufactured after July 2009. If it is manufactured in July or before, then 83850 is fine.

Very nice thank you. I wonder why we do not have a sticky for this?.... Or we do and the schools internet just sucks big time. I can't even search on google! My girlfriend will appreciate the info because I only have a few days to hack this for her dec 19 birthday then I am gone until Xmas. Big thanks!
No problem at all. Also, some people have reported problems pulling drive keys from even the drives that were manufactured in July, so be aware of that.
Also, the 74850 drive requires special hardware (a key reader probe) to pull the drive key. The 83850 doesn't, but its drive key is encrypted, and you need a special program (freekey?) to unencrypt it.
There isn't a sticky probably because the mods of this particular forum aren't actually very 360-savvy. They do their best, but they don't know enough about 360s to make the determination over what should or should not be a sticky. That is just my guess.
Haha I understand about the mods. I actually have a friend with the probe/spear so my main concern is getting a used 360 with an easily flashable drive with HDMI that is new enough to not get rrod. With all that said and done I knew i narrowed down what xbox's I could choose from, So its a big help knowing when I am looking I wont buy a bad mojo 360. :)
Cool. You are set then. Post back here with any questions you have about the process. The Jungle Flasher tutorial is a good guide, by the way. Good luck.
