To the whole ping the drive thing... don't worry i know what you are getting at you just phrased it wrong all those jerks who say i work IT go back to school or take networking 101 what the gentleman was getting at is maybe M$ has a way to "probe" (no aliens or doctors in this forum is there) to check your firmware, but i think its safe to say that me i have only been doing this for a short time and maybe i messed up by downloading games and have learned my lesson to use that kreon drive i bought and not use torrents, but at least i have a console for my bedroom or beside the mac pro now... :)

And i work IT as well and with out being a jerk and proving my SUPER LEET ADMIN attitude i took a look outside the box to try to realize the problem, this is a forum and we were all trying to understand what happend and why.

Cheers!

sorry, but your idea has been disproven.

First off, MS doesn't/can't currently check FW on your 360 drive. Second, the newest live logs have been analyzed and NO NEW CHECKS are being performed.

So it's bad rips.

There's posts in the big ban thread on Xbox-Scene that say otherwise. There are people that have only ever played abgx360 verified rips, and never before the release date, and they too have been banned.

What's interesting is that some people can no longer install games to their hard drive after being banned: -

Never seen that before! Mind you, this is the first post-NXE ban wave, so the install to hard drive feature didn't exist when the last proper console ban wave occurred.

It Could be uturn, speaking of which do you guys remember a while back when Madden 10 came out and the first version everyone was downloading and playing was a nuked version (arrogane and unlimited)? All i recollect from that day was thinking to myself how these nuked releases could bring consecuences since it was such a huge release. But im just reflecting in hinesight not saying this is a problem. Maybe a possibility?

See thats all that had to be said, i had no idea about that and im sure the dude who said the "ping" comment was in the same boat, its just the ignorance of some people looking past the words and getting at the idea or simply saying no bro this is why, but i digress. Your last statement i believe to be true, and 90% sure that was my problem impatience and bad rips from the net. /sigh live and learn i guess :)
Now as far as you knowing what your talking about i have no idea but will definetly look it up thanks.

I could really care less for that feature. So what... It saves me 5 seconds between loading? Yeah not a huge deal!

I haven't tested to see if I'm banned. I got the update the other day and haven't played since. don't want to even try to log on.
These bans are triggered from flags M$ captures sent from screw ups on your console from months ago to even a year ago (being the last ban was almost a year ago)So just because you have only been playing Halo for weeks on in, it doesnt really matter. (unless the ONLY games youve EVER played were Halo and COD) If that then disregard my post.

It also takes the stress off your DVD drive so it lasts longer

Well I'm pretty new to 360, but does that mean Xbox doesn't have any mandatory installs? Maybe it may in the future?

For information I live in Canada (that may affect it), played ODST,Halo 3, Left 4 Dead, Cod 5 on this console so far have Hitachi DJ47 5.1. I may try playing borderlands today offline though. Any suggestions should I stay offline or online?
If you are banned then you are banned staying off live just is delaying the inevitable
If I stay offline though microsoft won't get any information, until the ban wave is over.
Look at it like this, if theres a car with a bomb attached to it which blows up whenever u touch it just because you wait it out doesnt mean its not gonna blow. If M$ has decided to ban you, youll get banned the next time you sign in, regardless if you wait it out.

Sorry, but I'm not going to believe them. People using verified rips, or people making their own rips are the safest.

Even when ops of the main channels also have the same opinion, it makes me agree more with mine. I don't believe them when they say that is all that was played ever.

Lite on 1.6.
Games all abgx verified and never played until after the release dates.
Haven't tried any wave 4 games yet.

The only time I actually used live was last night to get the Forza 3 theme and I was curious what the online downloadable stuff for Smackdown v. Raw 2010 looked like as my gold trial was expiring.

For the most part though live was blocked from the settings. I just logged in to check to see if I was banned and I was. =)

Good news though as I won't have to wait to play pre releases anymore. lol.
Thats the spirit!

There's at least 5 people that said the same thing. What reason would they have to lie? If they were trying to hide the fact that they were playing unverified games or playing games early so people didn't say "you idiot!", then why even post at all? There are even people in this thread saying it, such as bludd.

I don't disagree with your second sentence, but I don't think that means you are 100% safe either.

The 360 doesn't have any mandatory installs, but you can optionally install any game (apart from one or two older titles like Crackdown). Put the game in and instead of pressing A to launch it, press Y and you have the option to install it in full to the hard drive. You can delete the installation at any time and carry on playing from disc. Deleting the installation doesn't affect your game save. There must be some kind of flag in the firmware that's triggered when you're banned, and this stops you from installing games and from playing the games that you installed before the ban.

Hey just wondering, what about a case like Forza 3 with a second installation disk. Think the items from the second disk will be allowed to install on a banned system?

I couldn't possibly say for sure mate. My console hasn't been banned (yet!). Disc 2 of Forza 3 uses a different install process to the standard "insert disc and press Y" method, so I'm guessing that it probably would work, but that is just a total guess based on the install method. If you try it, post back and confirm whether it works.

Should i still flash it with this ban wave goin on?
How long do you guys think it will take for it to blow over?
