Oh yeah, you're right there. Sometimes the title update fixes bugs that stop you playing the game at a certain point though, such as the issues with Ninja Gaiden II, but there should never be a case where you literally can't play a game at all while offline unless you're patching ISOs to different waves.

Alright, this is my first post,but ive been reading this for awhile. wouldnt it be common sense to go on to xbox.com and check your warranty status to see if you're banned? if you're banned it voids your warranty, so if it says your warranty is still okay, then you wouldnt be banned?
Also, M$ does want you to buy a new console so dont get into the bs, just swap em up.

The warranty thing would probably work, but you aren't actually banned until you try to sign in. You may be flagged but not banned so if you think you're flagged then I recommend causing red ring and sending it in if you can to ensure you get back a fresh unmodded system. HOWEVER I don't recommend swapping. That is fraud and a crime and you can get arrested for it.

I dont mean swapping, i mean like giving your friend your console (banned) or whatever, for his, if he doesnt go on live then who really cares? and if you connect to xbox live and it offers you an update it means your not banned correct? ive only had my xbox modded for a month, and only played on live probably 3 times, because of connection issues.
BTW im running a Lite-On with Ixtreme 1.6

My friend was prompted to update, he didn't and turned his xbox off and two days later as soon as he turned it on and tried to sign in he was banned. So if that has happened then you might be banned.

hmm, i connect everyday (without my HDD) and i always get the update, im hoping to get away from this banwave because the only backup copy i've played is NHL 10.

i have a question now. As i reported 20-30 pages back i was lucky that i got rrod before the ban hammer time and survived by getting it fixed locally. So now with the upcoming mandatory update on 17th nov we are most likely to lose video playback if we do an update on the unbanned/modded console by just swapping the hard drive. I recently picked up MW2 360 bundle with 250gb hdd. NOw i want to use it for both offline and online play and swap b/w the units. After the update it will ask me to update my console once i put the drive back in the modded console. Any workarounds? should i just keep my porfile and saves on an memory stick?

I read once that someone had called into Microsoft and was told the ban wave was running from Oct to Nov 13th.
No one has posted here or elsewhere that they have been banned from 14th onward I've noticed. Anyone think there is truth to it?

No.
As mentioned before. you get flagged then next time you connect you are banned. Waiting for the "Ban wave" to be over does nothing but prolong the inevitable.

I was banned on Nov 12th......my fault I won't complain......however I did notice that I was able to hear the xbox laser working a little more before I was actually kicked from Live and banned. Usually I don't even hear my xbox...this time was diff.
I was playing legit MW2. at the time.
Never played a game early, always verified with ABGX........so dunno what they do to detect it but I was hit.
I knew what I was getting into when I flashed. The ban was warranted.
I was running BenQ iXtreme 1.61

Whenever I played online or LIVE...I always played legit games. I have Rainbow Vegas 2, COD pretty much all of them. I was playing legit MW2 not a copy and I was taken offline.
Now when I play my 360 it is offline of course but it is back to being silent. I did not lose the ability to play games off my HDD and I did not lose the ability to stream movies off my computer. I have even used my Media Center since being banned.
but in the middle of online play with legit game, I was kicked and a msg came up "You must be connected to live in order to play this multiplayer game" something like that.
I must have been flagged or something but never played any copied game online only legit.
well at least I don't have to wait for a games release date anymore. I am just happy I came out of this with DIVX still working

As I stated, they can detect the FW...PERIOD. They can see that the fw is checking for stealth first, despite whether it's a legit copy or not.
I was also one who played abgx patched games, rarely played burned games...own Cod4 and MW2 and still got banned.

Going by the logic that they can detect firmware based off of the disc drive working.... I have not been flagged and havent been online... i only want to go online to download dlc... if i go on with no disc in drive, what are my chances? I mean i know they there is a chance but by the logic of the drive needs to be working for it to happen, wouldn't that mean that i'd be safe?

who knows if its a wave or if they found out how to detect and created a program to ban on site? this may be permanent.

Read. the disk doesnt matter. everybody is getting banned by doing something different. the only thing we all have in common is a flashed drive. its over. connect and receive ban or get a new xbox and swap your HDD to get DLC.

Sigh, did you even read what I posted? I am simply stating the fact that a couple days ago people were posting every 5 minutes that they were banned. Now no one is.

if you guys pay attention the majority of bans have happened on monday for the last 2 weeks. so tomorrow i bet there is a nother chunk of users banned.
but it has been determined that the fw is being detected via the bad angles that are somtimes reported but not always. like when you rip with kreon sometimes you will se this and sometimes you wont. the ixtreme fw does the same sometimes. in order to minimize the chances of this you need to install any games you play to the HDD cause when you do this the drive only access the disc once to check it is in the drive. otherwise when not installed the hdd it is constantly reading the disc and loading stuff and there are many many chances to be flagged.
If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

You state that its the firmware giving off bad angles and stealth checks in which microsoft can detect, but what about those people getting banned without even playing a game after they have modded their 360??
