Do banned systems lose hard drive functionality?

Let me see if I understand this....
Cowboy was your console banned, and that is the reason the HDD isn't working? And now MS is acting like they are going to fix it?
If that is the case, what scumbags MS are to make a move like this and then not even fess up to it, pretending like it is some error.

Its weird. I tested the connection it would say it connected to xbox live but when you try to get any gamer tag to connect through that xbox then it wouldn't work and currupted most of the game saves and the drive. Only since the update though. the gamer tags work ok on other xbox's on other drives. I don't know whats going on. anyway it'll be interesting to see if it gets repaired and what they say is wrong with it if anything.

It seems like Microsoft have got a strong asset against piracy, which is depriving the game industry. think of it this way: not all games are block-busters like GTAIV and PES2010, there are also many small games who are made by developers that depends on to be sold, if the selling of those games are not profitable or close at break-even then the game developer won't be interested to release a new game onto the Xbox 360.

Besides it's illegal to download a game. Everyone on here has purchased a legitimate copy and backed it up for their own personal use.

Funny, I talked smack in another thread about this and when I get home, I was able to test it myself. Yup, I got banned.
1) Installed games will run off the DVD.
2) If trying to install a game, will say it's not supported.
3) Putting a different hard drive on will not fix the issue.
It did show my profile was corrupt so I did a recovery on another console. My saved games however seem to be fine and was able to load up with no issue. I can live with the no Live but the no install will be annoying.

I say we all rise up and destroy the microsoft employees that actually thought about banning modded xboxs but at same time is it not prity much against them that they are searching through your personal things

if xbox is banned and you have another xbox can u use the old console to play copies and new one to play real copies Without gettin new console banned

Never ranted about getting banned either. Yeah they can protect they´re stuff.
But modifying something I bought so it don´t work is different. It´s a scam. But hey, they released a console that spontaneously stop working. Everyone knows, is not if, is when. So what are we even discussing, right?

Your gamerscore will not be updated if you do that. Whenever you put your profile on the banned console, it will become corrupt, and the only way to get in on the virgin box will be an account recovery, which means there will be no record of the achievements you get on the banned xbox. You can play all the games you want on it, but your gamerscore will not reflect this.

Then that means im pretty much screwed haha but this guy manu said he put is HDD on a virgin xbox and run perfectly, whats the diference in what im trying to do?

Wondering the same thing and reading this is all crazy talk and instead of making a new thread and have people get pissed I hope for a quite and easy repley. Can I take off the HDD from a banned box and put it on a new box and it work without any trouble? Or could I save my game saves from a banned box and put them onto a little memory card and put them on the new HDD and not get the new HDD banned. Or just start over :(
