Backing up/burning Wii discs

I have read larrylje titled "4.1 and below Firmware Softmod Guide - All Systems Except For Korean (LINKED 4.2 GUIDE)!"

I have a 4.1U system and plan on modding it in the next few days. I wanted to clarify a few things first:

1. What software (once HBC has been installed on the wii) will allow me to rip original wii discs to a SD/Flash drive and how long does this process usually take? Can I use an external hard drive instead of a flash drive for this process and if so, how do I go about doing this?

2. Can I burn DVD-R discs on any dvd burner once I have used WBFS on the ripped wii backup to make it an iso?

Check out the superdump link in my sig. I've used it a few times-worked every go.
Took around an hour max from the moment I put the disc in the wii to the time I played my back up.
