You can NOT rip with a DVD-DL burner. You need a specific SamsungDVD-ROM flashed with Kreon, or your Xbox 360 flashed with iXtreme's 0800 or 1.61 firmware.

Well, you can use a dvd-dl burner to rip xbox 360 games via the wxripper method. But this is not recommended. Using the kreon drive is the best and easiest way.

well thanks for the advice, im trying to keep my flash as cheap as possible as im super poor right now, what exactly is the wxripper method, and how do you make backups with the actual xbox 360 drive.
also, is it possible to open up the xbox 360 without buying an opening tool, im trying to just use the tools i have at home
You can make your own opening tool out of a DVD Case, there's a ton of tutorials that you can find on YouTube.
Like eebeejay said, your XBOX 360 DVD Drive needs to be flashed with firmware that gives it the ability to rip games.
I'm not sure about the WXRipper method, I think its also known as the Hot Swap method, YouTube has a step-by-step tutorial on how to do that as well.
I would really just spring for a Kreon Drive and an opening tool. They'll save you alot of time and headache. I bought my Kreon drive a while back for $40, and the opening tool was less than $5.00. But that's just me. =)
