hey guys long time luker here in need of some help I cant seem to search and find.
Ok I brought a used 360 some months ago, just now decided to flash it. I have some limited experience in flashing so as I was opening it, it already had signs of being open. So I hook my drive up and everything and when I ran jungle flash it showed the drive as being a Lite-on DG-16D2s but it is a Hitachi. Now Im aware that you can spoof a Hitachi into a Lite-on, but how can I tell if it already has ixtreme on it, beside burning and playing a back-up? thx
It is already modded if it is a Hitachi spoofed as a Lite-On, which it appears to be.
To determine the current firmware version, look on the 'Firmware Tool 32' tab of Jungle Flasher after you have dumped the firmware.
In order to dump the firmware, you will need to follow the Jungle Flasher tutorial for dumping the firmware of a Hitachi drive. For these drives you must go to the 'Hitachi' tab of Jungle Flasher and put the drive into Mode B in order to get any info from it. If it is a v79 drive (look at the label), it will also require you to use the 'Audio CD' unlock on it.
Yes, you need to spoof the drive as a Lite-On, since that is what your console was the drive that presumably originally came with your console. Apparently the drive went bad or something at some point, and they replaced that defective Lite-On drive with a Hitachi drive.
That is fine, but your console will still be looking for its original drive. In other words, it needs to find a Lite-On drive attached to it, whether or not that is truly the case.
The key will need to be the same in order for your motherboard to recognize your drive as the correct one. The only that needs to be different is that you need to use the Lite-On iXtreme firmware instead of the Hitachi iXtreme firmware and make sure to press "Spoof source to target" in the main tab.
You may want to double check that info as I have never actually needed to spoof a drive from one to another and this is just info that I've picked up from reading!
