I can get my 360 in vendor mode but the second I click intro/device id my entire computer locks up.
My 360 is benq pc is windows 7 32 bit
port io is installed
my process is hooking up sata to 360/pc, hooking in video cable to 360, booting pc, run jungle flasher, eject dvd tray, unhook dvd power, put dvd drive in half open position, hook back up dvd drive, then I click intro/device id. Thats when it says in vendor mode but immediately my entire pc freezes, have to do a hard reboot. Anyone have any ideas?
One thing that I do when I get this problem is to hook up a known-good DVD drive, such as my Blu-Ray drive, and let Windows boot with it. Then I switch the SATA cable over to my 360 DVD drive once Windows is already up and going.
As far as a tutorial for firmware toolbox; I am not sure. It is pretty basic, though. Dump the flash, then flash it with the modified version.
You can use JF to create your modified firmware with your drive key in it. JF is more user friendly, but less reliable.
how would you recommend updating the firmware with firmware tools? My benq already has 1.51 on it. Sorry for the noob question but ive never used it and all of this is pretty new to me lol. I tried reading the tutorial it comes with but its only for hitachis.
I would recommend dumping the current firmware using JF, then loading 1.61 into the target firmware. Then 'spoof source to target' in JF. Save the target firmware as cfw_liteon.bin, or whatever. Make sure the drive key is in it.
Then you can use Firmware Toolbox to flash that newly created flash file to your drive.
