Before I was able to burn my own and run em through ABGX etc, I used to buy backups. How do I know if they are safe? I have a Gears2 copy, so to check its verification I burned an image of it then ran it through ABGX. Heres the highlighted (green) sentences it came up with;

ISO appears to have random padding
SS looks valid
DMI looks valid
PFI matches known data (2nd Wave)
Video partition matches known data (2nd wave)
Stealth check passed

(then a list of CRC matches e.g Video CRC matches)

AnyDVD style corruption was not detected
All CRC match
Verification was successful

Does this mean the original disc was safe? I ask this as I am low on DLs so dont want to burn another copy if this one is safe.

(I would have just run the disc through ABGX but when I try to run it through ABGX is just comes up with audio and video folders)

The line in bold is the most important one. That means that the game matches a known retail rip of the game that has been uploaded to the ABGX database at http://www.abgx360.net/verified.php .

thanks I wont rip another copy of it then.

Also, my friend still buys off some dealer who uses ABGX. He always goes on about different levels of safety that ABGX classifies the iso as. Think it is rated in colours e.g green means as safe as possible, amber 50/50 chance and red as a no go. Is this an actual feature? Because I have never spotted it on my ABGX?

Yes, that is true.

However, unless you saw the original retail game ripped before your very eyes, never trust a non-green result from ABGX.

so how is it displayed? Does the green writing mean a safe copy? Because I dont think I have seen any other colour than green when using ABGX

You can't just go by the colours. Green is always good and red is always bad, but yellow might be something that you can ignore, or it might be something that you shouldn't ignore.

For example, if a game doesn't verify, I wouldn't ignore that (unless you're ripping your own discs), but if you get the "Caution: This SS contains a value (angle 359)...." message and you're using iXtreme firmware above 1.4 you can safely ignore that. By using abgx360 for a while and reading a bit about it, you'll know which yellow warnings are safe to ignore and which are not.

Read the info in the Quickstart section of abgx360 and also read the info that pops up when you hover the mouse over a blue i next to some of the other options. That'll help you understand a bit more about it.

Ok thanks I will look out for it. Fortunately I havent encountered a problematic iso so havent had the opportunity to look at the colours. All I get is green, which is good news.
