Hey guys,
I have been researching for a few days between this forum and the Ixtreme forum and am still having a hard time understanding it all and piecing together a final plan for flashing my BenQ Xbox.

I will state my knowns and unknowns and see what you guys can suggest for help.

Known:

chipset: nVIDIA nForce4 (CK8-04) (i think it is not compatible, not 100% sure though)

Has been flashed in Jan 25, 2008 by a 3rd party, who has not given me the ixtreme version data. I would like to know how I can test this to see if it is newer or older than the 1.5 ix

I have a BenQ drive

I can not play Wave 4 games

Unknown:

Current Ixtreme version, as previous stated.

What extra hardware I need to purchase, and where to purchase for low cost and shipping time. (or pickup, i am in Calgary, Canada).

Which route I should use to flash once I am set (dosflash32, jungle, etc).

Thanks in advance for any insight that can be shared.

hi TSXCman

IMHO you have the easiest drive to flash and should use JF all the way to firstly verify the current fw state and then to update to 1.61 (if that's what you want to do)

the via pci card is always a safe bet if after trying your own mobo sata doesn't work. A well known online aution site is always a good bet for buying said pci card.

then just follow the JF tutorial rev 1.66 i think????

JF should include the tools to figure out what my current version is then?

Alright, and assuming that my SATA chipset isn't working, then once I obtain the VIA one, will i need to unplug all other sata plugins? (harddrives and disc drives?)

no you wont need to unplug any other sata devices when you open jungleflasher you have a drop down tab which when selected will show whats connected to that port.buy the via6421 or 6421a card but dont install the drivers.

find and read the jungleflasher pdf which is very good at explaining.

good luck

Hey guys I am in this same boat my friend flashed mine before and I am going to try and do it myself this time I have a BenQ also,

is the only guide/documentation I need from the JungleFlasher PDF? Is it the most up to date tutorials on how to do it or is there a better up to date guide for beginners?

@ jmflu

personally i'd use the new jf manual as it takes you step by step through updating an already flashed drive, although you could always take a look here at Leerages tutorial. it's only fot stock drives but you can pick up some tips from it :)
