I have re flashed my friends sammy to 1.61, and as well a rrod console that I have bought and saved, both worked wonderfully before, and have successfully been flashed thru JF, but the 1.61 f/w just reads any disc (wave1-4) as "play DVD" and the DVD is the xbox logo standing still.. any advice or help?

I am having this issue on 2 again, this time a Hitachi with stock that I replaced by spoofing a spare sammy to and still the same issue occurs. I have one sammy that just will not read either games or back ups as anything other than DVDs and a hitachi replaced with a spoofed sammy doin the same thing... Very aggravating, I don't get it.
if you bought the hitachi second hand, i would chalk it up to someone else screwing it up. such as flashing it with a bad key, especially since you said you put a new drive in it and it still doesnt work.
as for your other drive, umm... being that its a sammy, its old, so the laser could be going to crap in it. could try the pot tweak, or using your 'new' sammy in it to see if it will work.

Is there a way to salvage the hitachi? should I try another drive see what happens? I will try the POT calibration on the sammy, is it the same as doing it on the hitachi? maybe I should try it on both and see what happens.
pot tweak might save the sammy. but if it was flashed wrong to begin with, then no. as for the pot tweaks, not sure. but im sure google can answer that for ya.
