So here's the situation. I first bought this VIA 6421a card with the intention of plugging a (sata to usb) cable into it, then plugging the (sata to usb) cable into my hp dv9000.
I was then going to plug a sata cable into my benq vad6038 drive.

I was following a video from youtube.com ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TdB0j72nMY&feature=related ) which seems to be using xbins, iprep, etc.
I had everything plugged up and this is where I am coming to a problem. ( I need a connectivity kit, I guess???)
So now I have my desktop running, and figured I would do it from there instead. I put my VIA 6421a card in a pci slot , its an old computer running xp (hp 7855).
Under device manager, it does not show the card at all??? How do i know????
I looked up the manufacturer specs, and the desktop appears to carry a ASUS motherboard, and Intel 810E chipset (if that helps at all) I have pics if you need to see them.

Thanks in advance for any help..
