i flashed my xbox from 1.6 to 1.61, i put in call of duty 4 to test if it worked, it did, i turned it off but when i turned it on later i got the notice i was banned, but my account is safe

1.61 bypasses security, so I ask, is your CoD4 ABGX-ified? If not, that may be your reason. Or you may have played an un-safe game in the past, been flagged for it, and just now got banned for it.

Maybe he was just checking to see if the flash went well in general? Not really sure. I think he did mean MW2.

lol, yeah it was cod 4 and i was checking if the flash worked in general, i will admit i have played some games early in the past like prototype and fight night but i just got the idea they detected me changing the firmware or something

official off xbins, im just glad i have my account tbh, i had another xbox spare what i THOUGHT had broke because it keeps getting disc unreadables, so i cleaned it out and it seems to be ok, its a hitachi but i dont know whether to flash it lol

I have 4 in my house, 2 of which are mine (one upstairs, one downstairs), the other 2 are one each for the kids. I only bought one, I was given 3 broked RROD xboxs that I have managed to fix. They are all modded. But only one is used for unverified games.

As I understand it, you guys are both right. 1.61 does check for stealth, but 1.61 does not check for wave 4 compliance. 1.61 was a 'quick fix' that basically ignores the PFI/video segment of the disc. Wave 5 would work in 1.61. So would wave 6, wave 7, and a game with a corrupted PFI.
$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

Thats correct, if the game isnt a good rip it wont play it
Thats why with modern warfare 2 recently, there was a bad rip going around and people needed to use the activate.iso to boot it
Essentially - 1.61 wont load bad rips
Activate.iso forces it to load any rip

Im pretty certain 1.61 has a strict wave3, and wave4 compliance, and wont booth unless they comply. At least thats what ive read.

I keep seeing this brought up with all the recent bannings, but the truth is M$ doesn't make much money on console sales... I believe they even end up losing money if you include repair/replacement costs for malfunctioning consoles. They make their money on game and content sales, that's their bread and butter, which is why I believe they choose to ban only a random number of the people they believe to be breaking TOS rather then ban them all (after all, most modders still buy M$ points and what not).
