let me preface this by saying this is my 3rd or 4th hitachi and they are always a nightmare! so heres the deal: i usually struggle through these using my onboard sata but didnt want to pull my hair out again so i got a via card. installed it, isntalled drivers then remembered JF said to uninstall them so i did. installed portio, downloaded JF 1.67 and hitachi FW pack and set off for hours of fun lol.after changing ports in JF, sata plugs on the card, and getting out a new sata cable JF wouldnt recocnize the drive.figuring it wasnt a lite-on, i re-installed the drivers for the card and it was found. after setting mode b, i went to dump but it failed so i tried a few more times and dumped the drive. luckily i have the OFW because when i tried to flash ixtreme, it failed and completley froze up. after rebooting my pc i noticed my drivers for the card were uninstalled and now i cant seem to reinstall them. can anyone make sense of this? i hate hitachis so much! thanks for any help.
update:
so i got the drivers to reinstall by "uninstalling" then rebooting.so now when i go to flash ixtreme, it either says ram upload failed or it says the Fw is 1.51 which i know it isnt. i tried to restore when it said FW was 1.51 but that failed too. im utterly lost here and any help would be greatly appretiated.
wow these hitachis really are quirky! after getting nowhere with the via card, i decided to use my onboard sata ports again and guess what? flashed in 2 seconds! big waste of 4 hours ans 17 bucks on the card but oh well. sadly, i know next time i see a hitachi it will be the same thing all over again.
Personally i think M$ have overlooked a stroke of genius..... if they'd left hitachi as the only brand of dvd installed in an xbox it would of detered more people to mod than spending $millions on trying to outsmart the smart people.... Simples
