Hey all,

I've had my 360 for a couple of years now and want to flash the drive.

From what I can tell the drive is a Hitachi, I don't know the model yet as I don't want to open the xbox until I have all available information.

I was under the impression you need to remove the drive and connect it to a pc using an ide cable just like a normal pc drive, and then use jungle flasher and the appropriate firmware.

From what i've read on forums and turoials, you use S-ATA? Is this different from ide? Do I need a different cable - also do I have to use S-ATA, the only other information I can give for now is my motherboard chipset is VIA.

Many thanks for any help

SATA is different then IDE

This is IDE

This is SATA (the blue connectors).

If you don't have SATA conectors then you can buy a SATA PCI card and place it in a PCI slot on your PC.
HERE is what you would need.

Ok, In the tutorial for Jungle Flasher, if I am using a VIA card it says to remove the drivers first.

I don't have a VIA card but have found 2 SATA connecters on the m/b, my motherboard chipset is VIA - does this mean I have to remove the drivers for the chipset or would you only need to do this if you had the VIA card?

Many thanks for the ongoing support and forgive my noob questions :-)
