There is LAN system link service that supports XBOX 360. You can play multiplayer games, although the number of players tends to be small.

Check out XLINK KAI

How does this program/service compare to XBConnect ( http://www.xbconnect.com/ )?

Also, do these services allow systems banned from Xbox Live to play on them? (I assume they do.)

I have been giving a system like this thought since my system was banned in the recent ban wave.

$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

From what I have heard, both are pretty slow. You time out alot, because of too high of a ping rate, and too low. Also, they are limited to games. Mostly the big titles though, like COD and Halo.

I haven't used XLink Kai since 2005. I preferred it over XboxConnect. Kai also became integrated into Xbox Media Center (which was a plus).

Yes, because you don't connect to Live, you choose "system link" in your games.

I think you can play ANY game that's system-linkable. That's how it was back in the day.

Yeah I believe so too, but most people play like the bigger hit games.

Okay, thanks for the info, guys. I have looked into this before, but never had a reason to switch from XBL.... until now:)

That is pretty clever that they use system link. However, that being the case, is there a lower limit on the number of players than what one could find if using XBox Live?

For instance, perhaps the maximum number of players was 16 in Xbox Live, would it potentially be 4 or 8 for one of these networks? I've honestly never used system link before, so I have no idea.

I used connect on the old xbox YEARS AGO, it was pretty good. This is definitly an option for the people that were banned and cant afford another 360.

Well, even if I do get a new 360, there is no guarantee that I will get one that has a currently flashable drive. And in any case, I am not sure I will be flashing any drive in the near future until a post-mortem is done on this ban wave by c4eva and others.
