I'm sure there is a lot, and I mean A LOT, of conjecture out there. I'm just trying to get a better read on things.

I would like to know if anybody has taken their modded 360 and flashed it back to the original firmware before signing into live and being banned. If you have, have you then gone online with this after flashing back to the original firmware and then been banned?

I know it's still early, just curious if it has actually happened to somebody rather than just pure speculation.

We know it works on flags & we know they cant detect your firmware. Kinda pointless thread TBH.

I don't see it as a pointless question. Well, at least it isn't pointless to me.

I have 2 modded boxes. One banned yesterday. One that hasn't been online in about 2 months. Not banned yet. I figure, hey, if I can flash that old one back to original and not be banned I can get on live and play my games and still have my modded one for backups.

This, in effect, will save me the cost of having to go out and buy a whole new box just to play the few games I play online. I will also know not to flash it and keep it off live so it won't be banned.

The point is saving that hundred bucks.

Its a pointless question that has been answered in the banning thread. If your flagged, you will get banned even if you flash back to the old firmware.

Even if we are wrong about the flags, M$ cannot detect the firmware so flashing back will not help.

Hence my question.

Has anybody actually flashed back and been banned? Or is it just pure conjecture? Obviously nobody has figured out this flagging thing or we would know why we are getting banned and what we are being flagged for.

I just want some proof, that is all.

I get your point though. Thinking about it, I guess I would have no idea if I've been flagged or not. Arghhhh... this is my 100 dollar question. I suppose it would be a much easier question to answer were I not unemployed.

Got ya, i could test it as I have a system I'm 100% sure should be banned. I could flash it back and connect to live. Don't want to lost HDD function though.

Anyone who's sure they are going to get banned want to give this one a test?

i belive they CAN detect your firmware we just are unaware of how they do it. i belive they are flags that draw attention. If we can see what firmware is on the drive by hooking it up via SATA on our pc. with a bios update on there half i bet they can see it 2. maybe just harder for them cause in such a large scale. witch is why they have this BAN wave. every once in a while. but with a LArge update that just happened and it DID almost nothing N adapter support and Wpa2 support and disable third party MU. i believe the update was 178 megs. that is HUGE for those small things. so something else went on in the background.

I am here standing. I never sit.

Nice theory, I'm with C4EVA on this one though.

Which leads me to another question. I haven't updated this older box in two months. It hasn't been online. If I flash to the original before the update, I wonder if it would be safe? Hmmm...

It's losing the HDD function that's preventing me from giving it a shot.

Give it a try but I seriously doubt it will stop you getting banned if you are flagged already. You can try log your xbox for repair and if it fails, you know you are already banned.
