Once this is done sign on xbox live and recover the gamertag you just deleted. Once this is done all your gamesaves should be in perfect working condition.

I can't say myself if this works but my friend did it last night and said it worked.
Also confirming that it works!

If you do that though, what happens when you connect your hard drive back to your own banned console? If your profile and saves show up as corrupt then, you'll be screwed because you can't do the "recover gamertag" option.

Has anyone tried recovering the profile, putting it on a memory card and useing on both a banned and non-banned console?

Heres my idea. unplugging my modded console, which has not been banned, but im gonna ban myself before the xbox knows it is and loses it's functions. then put a 20gig HD on it for game saves. Then put my profile on a memory card and go back and forth. It worked before i was brave enough to play online so i assume it should still work until its actually flagged as banned.

Cool, well I'm glad you made that clear. This is a good method for those who are ditching their banned box and buying a new one, but for those who are keeping the banned box for offline play and buying a new one to use online, doing this could be a bad idea because it would lock you out of using your gamertag and saves on the banned box and you wouldn't have access to the recover gamertag option to sort it out.

Thanks for the info. This is rather depressing because it means once I get a new console all of my Dragon Age and Ballad of Gay Tony data will be corrupted, but at least I know not to play any of my older games and risk corrupting that data now.

A little side note, but if I get a new console and recover my gamertag I should be good to go 100%? I just get the feeling that I will automatically get banned again because they have my gamertag associated with a banned console.

Yes, Aiur, the unmodded system will be safe.

Transferring a HDD from a banned to an unmodded system will not result in a ban for the unmodded system.

$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

That's good to know. Just a question qwert, do you run your games through ABG before and after burning them?

Just another instance of the DRM management if your downloaded say Map packs on your modded console before ban ,Then you get banned when you move to new console you can only play them when online which sucks if your trying to play lan zombies with someone else and Xbox live is not available the map packs won't be playable.

You can transfer the licenses over to your new console here: -

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/system...censemigration/

You have to download the content again, but it only actually downloads the new license, so it only takes a few seconds. Still a bit of a pain that there's no "download all licenses" option though, especially if you've downloaded loads of DLC and XBLA games. You can only use this tool once per year too.

Only ran 100% of them through before, maybe 20% through after. I never noticed any bad results on the ones I did run through. However, I haven't done a big batch checking of all of my backups yet. I plan on doing it, but I share games with friends (all burned by me), so I don't have access to all of them anyway.

I really want to recheck some of my first burns from last year. If any would have been a bad burn, it would have been those, I imagine.

has anyone tested if you can play games that are LAN bases like COD with a ban system and a unbanned system. My son and I love to play verse each other but now my console is banned however his is not. I don;t care about live I can do that on the unmodded system but I would still like the play console to console.

so, the above theory works?

Also, what if you were to get a new xbox and hdd, and recover your gamertag. Does it re-download/remember your game saves? Or do you lose all gamesaves, but keep your achievments?

microsoft keeps track of achievements, your hdd keeps your game saves. Also yes recovering yur gamertag restores yur saves if yur were banned.

right, but if microsoft only keeps track of achievments, where does the games saves come from? If you hdd is currupt or something, and you cant use the transfer cable.

or can you use the same hdd from the banned consul, and put it on the new xbox(unbanned/unmodded) and recover your gamertag/score/games saves etc.

No the HD from the banned console will no longer be currupted and since you delete the profile but not this saves before it synic with MS your go to go. I would do it asap as they may update so this workaround is closed.

I posted this on the main Ban thread, let me try here since its more of a specific question.

Nah they don't recover anything. Once you're flagged to be banned, it'll be noted on the system that the employees use. No problem, I recommend to anyone that isn't yet banned to do this. You don't ask if you are banned, you just "inquire as to whether or not your console is eligible for repair. If it is, then say thanks, and just end the conversation there, if it's not, they will tell you, "No you cannot get it repaired because it says here it has violated the terms and conditions"

If you do this, you've got yourself an offline console to play games early on with the same profile you use for Live, and can keep the achievements rather than end up with corrupt data when you move it to another Xbox.
Mik3h, so according to this, with my unbanned console, i can jump back and forth with the same HDD, and update my live gamerscore, with no reprecussion

by using an unmodded xbox?

the reason im asking is because I have an elite unbanned as of yet, stopped logging into XBL, hoping that they ban at random with random server checks, so i have not been flagged yet.

Can i borrow my friends untouched elite, and buy Modern WF2 and play on his box with my HDD (not yet banned), but there are saves on there from backups that come from my modded elite.

Or should i just use his HDD and recover my gamertag on it.

My main concern is not to put his box in any jeopardy, since his is brand new and he is just doing a friend a favor to play a new game.

Any response would be great.
Maybe someone looking at this thread can chime in. I tried deleting the other but there is no option for that.

Your achievements are tied to your gamertag. When you go online to XBox Live, they show up on your recovered gamertag. But, since you cannot go online to XBox live with a banned console, you cannot earn achievements on that banned console.

You can get access to your saved games by transferring the saved games to an unbanned console.

Still don't understand why people risk connecting their modded boxes to Xbox live... Its been a major risk for modded boxes since 2003. Anyone who was modding on the original boxes would tell you to turn off XBL when you wanted to run modded.

Personally... I have 2 consoles, 1 modded, 1 not modded. When I want co-op play, I buy the game and use my un-modded box. Its those games that only have 30 hours of non-coop play that kill me. Those are what a modded box is best used for.

Take your brick and sell it on ebay, then get another. Make sure whomever you sell it to completely understands that it cannot connect to XBL anymore, but that it still can be used to play backed-up offline disks. You may get half the value of your new box.

I can see a few thousand modded bricks with ixtreme, and blaster NE for around $100 hitting ebay real soon.

My modded box isnt banned and i dont plan on going on XBL anytime soon, thats why im able to swap back and forth the HDD. But will my achievement swap along with it?
