First off, I know that there are various topics on this... But, they always seem to have multiple different answers to my specific question. So, here is what I was wondering:
I have a Lite-on with 1.51. My brother has 1.6 on a BenQ and his friend has 1.6 (I think on a lite-on).
I've read that patching a Wave 4 to Wave 3 only works on 1.51. I've also read that it will work for 1.6s.
I am trying to figure out what to do with the systems that will allow them to play ALL games regardless of wave without having to have them updated.
I am assuming that my 1.51 will be okay since it will boot any wave without the F/W denying it.
So, here is the main question: Will patched Wave 4 games play in 1.6? If so, what wave do I put them too, and do I check them with ABGX?
NOTE: The two systems with 1.6 are already banned, and my 1.51 isn't. I am only using it offline from here on out since I figure I will just use my other system for the games I actually want to play.
This is what I have learned from all the different forums and it worked for my system. I used to get the dreaded DVD Movie message when burning some games. What I have learned is that Games with Wave 1 and 2 will work in Firmware 1.4 - 1.61. Wave 3 will only work with firmware 1.51 - 1.61. Wave 4 will only work with firmware 1.61. So if you have an older firmware like me (1.5), you will need to patch accordingly in order to play the game and not have your system think it is a DVD movie. Example, I have to patch my games from wave 3 and wave 4 to wave 2. The only program that worked for me was the PPF-O-Matic and v14-15.ppf patch that I did a search for on google and downloaded from rapidshare. Hope this helps someone else. Again, everyone knows that this will not stealth patch to work on Xbox Live so please don't reply with how stupid people are for patching.. If you can't help, don't bother replying..
Forgot to add. I check the games first with ABGX to make sure everything is ok, then I patch the game using PPF, then I burn the game. If I copy a backup game that has a higher wave version than my xbox can handle, I use CloneCD to read the game to an ISO image file, then use the ABGX (check and create .dvd file) and PPF (patch to I believe wave 2) then reburn the game so it will play in my xbox 360 with 1.5 firmware. Had to do this with Tekken 6 (wave 4) which originally showed up as a DVD Movie. I deleted the image from my harddrive but still had the dvd that I burned.
