C4Eva announced he's working on a new firmware on IRC:
"[c4eva] new fw in dev/test - ixtreme LT (Lite Touch) - more efficient , minimal patching , all aspects of fw indistinguisable from orig, no more bans, No ETA!"
We do not have more details atm.
As far as we know the 3 'test boxes' C4Eva has running are still fine (not banned).
So there's NO ETA for the firmware yet (dont ask) but it should come out for Lite-On drives first.

Wow, a no ban firmware would be amazing but there of course is no way for him to be 100% sure.

He doesn't say that they can detect the firmware. He just says that this new version will be indistinguishable from the original, which isn't the same thing.

Well, he also says "no more bans", which does sort of imply that the firmware is detectable. But who knows. I guess we will just have to wait and see the official word.

To all you people, if you don't trust C4Eva then don't flash your drive with his firmware. You should be thankful for what he did with the modding community. No C4Eva=no firmware=no backup games to play. So suck it up and appreciated what the man accomplished.

Would have to agree with qwert99. He says "indistinguishable" from the original f/w. Well, the only entity that would be interested in "distinguishing" your firmware would be M$.
I know this is only the beginning...once the ones in the know figure out what M$ is doing to obtain info...those measures will be circumvented...then patched....then circumvented....sound familiar?

Well, it's nice to know why the liteon .61 hasn't come out yet. Thou, I know quite a few people who would rather just have the .61 since they don't have to worry about bannings anymore.
Now, if we can just get some info about whats taking the ABGX ppl so dang long.

1.51 doesn't do stealth or video partition/CFI checks AFAIK. So a downgrade to 1.51 would accomplish the same goal.

I'm not sure if this is good or not.
If the firmware was detectable, then it's good because we now can develop firmware to counter it, but then we know Microsoft CAN detect firmwares of drives.
If it was ABGX then we have a fundamental flaw in the way we stealth our games, with no alternative at the moment.
Tricky one, but people who know more can expand on this.

Just been reading up do you think microsoft were desperate and this was a last ditch attempt ban all suspected because iextreme was getting good? Look at support you get ignored and the same answers all the time on xbox.com??? stepto for once is been quiet he normally braggs over his ban waves???? I e-mailed him thanking him for my new xbox because i clawed all my money back from CC company he never responded and like i posted earlier xbox.com forums deleted my post letting people know they can claim back!!!

No offense but you're an idiot. I think for one his inbox probably has over a million emails. He probably dropped his email to a new account anyway. On a side note: hopefully we'll see this firmware in the next few weeks...

eventually yes. anytime soon, i doubt it. going off of how the original LO was 'undumpable' i say give if a few months, and a way will be found.
however, i should restate what i said. they can dump the drive, just have no way of obtaining the key from it. so once that is figured out, then we will be able to hack it.

lmao..ugh i wanted to flash my lite-on tomorrow lol. i dont know if i will until this new fw is released..but than again they havent banned everyone, could get lucky.
Though they play an important role in the early stage, the techniques should not be too mechanical, complex or restrictive. If we cling blindly to them, we shall eventually become bound by their limitations.
