Having trouble modding a Hitachi

Alright, I have modded 3 BenQs and 2 Lite-Ons before and they have caused me no trouble what so ever. But now I am trying to mod my first HItachi and I can't seem to do it for my life. When I try to use JungleFlasher 1.66 and I click the Hitachi tab, it will show up that I have a Hitachi plugged into my SATA card, but when I try to actually do anything to the drive it says that there are no Hitachi drives found. So then I tried doing it with dosflash32 1.8. It also sees the drive but when I try to read the firmware from the drive it says something about It cant find the flash chip or something like that. Can anyone help?

Are you using WinAPI or PortIO? Check out Page 42 of the Jungle Flasher Tutorial (v0.1.66)

What version of the Hitachi DVD drive do you have.

I had problems getting the drive (V79) recognized with my Sata Card (VIA 6421) so I went ahead and bought a USB to Sata Bridge... worked perfectly. The adapter only cost me around $3.00 shipped.

I am using WinAPI. I tried using the Jungle flasher tutorial, but I still get the same errors. The drive I have is a V78
