OK, I have done a lot of research but Im still lost, so any advice would be appreciated.

I have a Wii modded with an argon chip and HBC/BootMii installed, my Wii is running firmware 4.1.

I need a cIOS so I can run a backup on 'NeoGammaR8beta7'

I have tried installing 'cIOS 249 rev14 (Waninkoko)' through the HBC - I get the expected ret -2011 error when trying to install using the 'Wad' option, but I also get the same error when installing using the 'network' option. I read somewhere that you can overcome this this by launching the wad manager using BannerBomb instead of HBC - I tried this and installed the relivant 'IOS38-64-v3610.wad' successfully, well I assume so as the only option now is to 'uninstall' it. But the system shows no sign of it being installed - NeoGamma still says its not detected on start-up and DOP-IOS doesnt have a record of it which is weird.

I'll downgrade if I have to, but does anyone know a way I can install cIOS 249 on my wii without downgrading the firmware? If not could someone please tell me simple safe steps i need to take to downgrade? Thanks a lot!

You need to exploit the Wii system first using the Trucha Bug Restorer. In doing so, you need to downgrade IOS so you can start installing cIOSes. Backup launchers, USB Loaders, cIOS installers and WAD Manager all rely on the presence of the trucha bug. Using larry's guide, start with the SD CARD PREPARATION; skip to DOWNGRADE IOS15: , and end at cIOS38_rev14.

thaks but that gives me an error on start-up but still seems to load? got no idea what to delete though as its all just codes - waninkoko's duplicate channel removes (v2.1 PAL) doesnt work either for some reason - says its not a valid app when trying to start so im still stuck on this one >.<

Do you get the same result for every homebrew app you run?

nope just that one - the 'not a valid application' error when trying to run through the HBC and just a black screen when using bannerbomb - I think I may have read somewhere that it's not compatible with 4.0 and above firmware?

Possibly. Are you using the bannerbomb that corresponds to your firmware?

It could be a compatibility issue with your firmware. Search if there are latest releases for those two apps, and then try those.
