Well first of all, What version is your psp, if 2.6, an you don't know what modding is, I assume its 1000 series(first edition, phatty).
1000 Are by far the easiest to mod, take a look at these awesome tuts, by some of my favorite people at psp-hacks.com
http://www.psp-hacks.com/forumsf133/the-...thread-t227349/
If you have any trouble or find it confusing, at all, send a pm(personal Message to me, an I will try to help.Good luck.

This link is for the psp slim - all you need to do is to change the chickhen files for a Phat version.
So -
1) update to 5.03
2) Run Chickhen for a phat
3) Run Hellcats installer
No parts to buy just need a memory card (ALWAYS format the memory card before trying chickhen - gives you a better chance to load it)

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

my psp had been in the closet for 3 years after an upgrade to 2.6 and noway at the time to fix it. after reading your list of to do's here i decieded to get it out and try again. every thing was running good, untill i got to the upgrade to 5.00 which i followed to instructions exactly. my psp system info says i have firmware 3.52m33 but when i try to upgrade to 5.0 it comes up and says you must be running at least 3.52m33 or higher, which i have but wont go any farther. can you help me with this?

When this is done you can format your memory card (unless there is something on it you want to keep). After the formatting you get some new folders, one is called ISO. Put your games there, then go to recovery menue (keep R-shoulderbutton pressed while the PSP is booting up), there in settings set it to NO UMD. After that you can play your games from your memory stick.

Stay away from GEN firmware for now, since it doesn't support 1.50 kernel....

Almost all of newer homebrew doesn't need the 1.50 kernel anymore, so it is of no use. Also when you have a PSP slim you don't have 1.50 kernel support anyway.

well, if you read his post he is obviously using a phat psp.
I will reitterate for you. 1.50 kernel based homebrew offers WAY more options than 3.xx+ kernel homebrew. Also the m33 custom firmware has proven to be WAY more stable from Dark Alex. You can play BOTH on it and can patch UMD ISO's etc.... if you want to play other games.
