Flashing / updating xbox 360 firmware samsung

Hi ive tried looking around the internet to answer my question but no such luck

I recently bought a pre modded xbox 360 from ebay it came with some copied games such as rockstar table tennis, nfs carbon etc very old titles

the previous owner didnt mod the xbox himself so he doesnt know what version of the hacked dvd firmware is on it but my guess is that its old, too old to play new titles

i was wondering if seeing as how its already flashed is there a disk i can insert into my 360 to update the dvd firmware

or do i have to open up the xbox and flash it through the sata

The only way to flash the drive is via SATA.

I'm not sure... Rockstar Table Tennis was released in May of '06, so whatever firmware was out at about that time period.

It definitely needs a reflash.

You may want to hold off, however. There is a huge wave of bannings going on right now and the causes are still very much in dispute. A new firmware that is supposedly going to be safer is scheduled for release in a month or two... at the earliest.

Of course if the console is already banned or you just don't care about Xbox Live, go ahead and update the firmware now.
