Theory on the attempt to save saves

Here's a question.
I got three modded 360s. None are banned (lucky, I know), but the ban could be coming.
Let's say I copy or move the saves to a memory card (I have 3).
If my 360 gets banned today, the profile and saves get corrupted, but what about the saves on the memory card (moved before the ban)? Can they be used on a new non-banned 360?
And if this works, wouldn't the same concept work for copying saves over to your PC (with Xplorer360 or similar program)?
As I said, I'm not banned, yet, so I cant test this idea, yet.

why not just delete the profile, and recover the profile, your GS will be fine. my bro and a good friend had to do this the other day and it worked fine.

Cool. I didn't think that worked. I thought the saves were corrupted along with the profile.

apparently its just the profile part. if it is the GS, then your idea on the mem card would work.

i think it would work as they can only corrupt whats on the 360 at the time of the ban surely? if it doesn't work it suggests that they look into your HD before they ban you for a while which is quite a scary thought eh?

That was my thinking. I've backed up the saves to the cards.

I hope not. That's where I keep my plans to take over Microsoft, and blueprints to the corporate headquarters.

I just took my hard drive off the console that was banned last night, plugged it into a new unbanned console and all profiles were uncorrupted. Although I'm not sure about the game save files because I haven't tried loading up any game save files yet.
Looks as though as long as you don't save any new information to the profile while on the banned console after it's banned, then you'll be able to use your hard drive on a new console without having to recover your gamer tag.

I thought they only banned the xbox. My friend got banned bought an xbox and used his old HDD and is back online gaming. He hasn't lost a thing. Was this a fluke?

so today my box was banned, i have all my saves and stuff on a 60gb hardrive. i have not played anything since it was banned(just shut it off), if i buy a new box(unmodded) can i get my saves on the new xbox, or will they become corrupt. i also have a 256 mb memory card. do i need to buy a new hardrive as well as 360?

I didn't have immediate access to another 360 console, but I wanted to delete the 'Xbox Live' component of my profile without erasing my savegames. I got tired of the 360 trying to connect to Live every time I signed in to my profile to play my games.
So I deleted the profile but chose to keep the data, thinking that I could just transfer ownership of the saves to another profile.
WRONG! The 360 will not allow you to copy or transfer ownership of game saves to another profile. Since I was banned and didn't have access to an unbanned profile, I could not recover my gamertag. Needless to say, I was pretty ticked off at myself for losing my level 30 character in Borderlands.
However, I did find a way to get my save game back AND to accomplish my goal of erasing the Live component of my profile.
I managed to use Xplorer 360 and Modio to change the profile ID of my new profile to the profile ID of my old profile (got this from a saved game). Then I was good to go! It loaded my saved games right up. It did delete all achievements and played games history, however. Not that I care about that stuff.
$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check
