Ok, so I've flashed my fair share of Hitachi's. I've written a ton of tutorials, and done this dozens of times. But I can't understand this one!

So, using JungleFlasher, I managed to get my hitachi 59DJ into mode b (still no drive letter in windows, though), and to read the original firmware. But, I cannot flash it because firmware toolbox cannot see it! Any ideas?

Have you tried DosFlash 32?

Those 3 are my holy trinity of flashing software.

Once the drive is in mode B, you may want to reboot the PC and see if it shows up on the reboot.

Another trick I sometimes use is to boot up with a different SATA DVD drive (usually my Blu-Ray drive) and once Windows is fully booted, hot-swap the SATA cable over to the 360 DVD drive.

What a PITA (pain in the...) these drives can be.

So as not to leave you guys wondering, I did resolve this issue.
The problem was that I could not put it in modeb with jungleflasher without portio32. But, portio32 wouldn't let it gain a drive letter. So I did it the old fashioned way. Slax, ftw lol
