stop buying cheap batteries then. 4 flashing lights is not a battery issue. You need to sync it to your xbox.

Have you modded your controller at all?

Could be that there is some sort of short in the controller that is causing your batteries to die.

Or, like gameover says, it could be cheap batteries.

$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

Well there's your problem right there. It's not the batteries that are the problem, it's your controller.

I have never modded a controller, but if I had to guess, I would imagine that one good possibility is that you added turbo to your controller. What may have happened is that you have the turbo on a super high setting, and it is sending the signal for the button so many times that it is quickly draining the battery. The 360 probably can't register a turbo that quickly anyway. Reduce the repeat rate of the turbo element and you may solve the problem.

Also, you may want to get a multimeter and make sure your voltages are what they should be. If you are pulling too many volts, that could be causing it as well. Maybe you needed a resistor somewhere and didn't put it on or something.

Like I say, just speculation, but something to look in to.

In that case....

Use regular, not rechargeable, batteries again and double check.

Rechargeable batteries lose their mojo after being charged X times.

I think you're an idiot. Hit the damn sync button on your xbox and then hit the sync button on your controller.

so what happens when you hit the sync button on the xbox and on your controller? who modded it? sounds like it's toast to me, but I don't mod controllers since they will get you banned.
