its not going to work on a sammy 1.51 cause 1.51 doesnt support that wave, patching to a diff wave is always a weird proces, end up wasting lots of discs

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

That log could be fake. It's hard to tell, as there's been a mix of fake and real comments from c4eva posted on forums.

What it says makes sense though because presumably he's going to create the firmware so it behaves exactly like the original firmware, only it will boot backups. I would rather have a firmware like that because I check all my discs anyway, so I don't need the firmware to do that for me. It's actually more of a pain that it does, because that's why we need things like the activate.iso disc.

Anyways, it could be complete bull**** for all we know.

Personally, I think it is fake. A lot of people are reading into these "logs", and thinking it is true just because it says "c4eva". I will wait for the official release from Team Hyper X before I believe anything.

That is fine. No worries Man07. I believe you. :)

It just really doesn't sound like c4eva from his previous logs. I guess he is changing up how he talks now.

I actualyl couldnt believe it myself when i logged in that he was talking that was the first time i have ever seen him activley participate up till now all ive seen of him was copy and paste logs lol

the only thing i missed was that first line when i logged in.

he did also say something about LT not doing stealth checks and something about M$ being able to detect drive behavior when running the stealth checks

The PFI matches wave 4 known data but the video CRC is different.

It won't work without the activate.iso disc.

I downloaded the LaGarTiJa and the MARVEL releases. The latter has different stealth files and it says the SS is version 2, while with the LaGarTiJa release it was version 1. Not that it really matters with the state of the ban wave at the moment, but I'd say that the MARVEL release is more likely to be a proper retail rip. Both have the same video partition info, so both are wave 5.

So any idea if/when they will have a new firmware for BenQ to support wave 5? I thought wave 5 would have been next year.

You could use an older firmware for BenQ that doesn't have strict compliance with video waves. It's only really the Lite-On owners that have no choice but to use activate.iso.

The only people who know the ETA of any new firmware are the people who create it and nothing's been announced yet. I guess we'll have to wait and see if iXtreme Lite Touch has strict compliance with video waves. Personally I hope not, because I want to install the firmware and then not have to touch it again unless there's an update for security reasons.

What version of the older firmware would work?

BenQ iXtreme 1.41 Rev 2 Non-Stealth.

There may be differences in security with older versions of firmware (aside from the non-stealth element) so while this is perfect for banned or voluntarily offline consoles, it's probably not the best choice if you're playing online, but then no current firmware is safe if you're playing online at the moment.

I'm not sure if I'm on right page...
can someone clarify how xbox is compatible with new "waves"?

in order to play new "wave" disc, you need new FW? or new xbox UPDATE?
added: can a banned xbox update? ^^;

"Waves" denote the different video partitions used on game discs. There are currently 5 different waves (including Left 4 Dead 2, which is the first wave 5 game).

Some firmwares have strict compliance with certain waves, so iXtreme 1.6 for example will only support waves 1-3 (other waves can be booted using the activate.iso disc). Older non-stealth firmwares don't have strict compliance with video waves so you can boot any game with those.

If your console is banned already and you want to use a firmware that can boot all games, then these are your best choices: -

BenQ - iXtreme 1.41 Rev 2 Non-Stealth
Hitachi - iXtreme 1.51
Samsung - Extreme 5.3
Lite-On - iXtreme 1.6 (will have to use activate.iso with any game that's not wave 1-3)

The firmware of a banned console can be updated (or downgraded in the case of some of the firmwares I just listed) just fine.

A log that may or may not contain quotes from c4eva says that. It's already been discussed further up this page in fact.

thanks for quick reply. so you just need FW (or ISO) to play any game regardless of version of your xbox software?
i'm asking this because i read it in xbox-scene, someone posted that as new waves releases you would need new updates from xbox live.

wasn't this 17th mandatory xbox update due to new wave5 discs?

The November 17th dashboard update is to add new features - Last.fm, Facebook, Twitter etc. An unflashed 360 doesn't need updates to boot certain waves of disc. Some modified firmware used to play backups has strict compliance with certain video waves, so in that case you would need to upgrade the firmware to play new waves(or use the activate.iso disc), but that only affects copied games. Even if your 360 is flashed with a firmware that only supports wave 1-3, it will still boot original games regardless of the wave.

You only really need to update your firmware for 2 reasons: -

1. If a more secure version of the firmware is released.
2. If your firmware has strict compliance with video waves, then a new video wave comes out and a new firmware is released that adds support for the new wave.

Dashboard updates are contained within the video waves on waves 3-5, so you can stay (reasonably) up to date by updating from game discs if you're banned. A game disc that has a dashboard update on it will prompt you to update your dashboard if your current dashboard is older than the one on the disc.

Thanks dude!~! I just got banned recently, and I think I'll just downgrade my BenQ to that FW so I dont have to fuss with the activate.iso. Good info!

But what about those of us who have been flagged for ban as soon as we go on live again? Wont some of the new game disks have the Crl.bin in the video partition of the disk? That will ban our console without ever going on live. SO couldn't we just manually patch all the new games that are wave 5 with wave 4 video to get around the updates? I tried this with L4D 2 and patched it with the video from Dragon age origins and when I boot with 1.61 in my benq it did not prompt me to do the SystemUpdate 8507.
