Doubtful cause if you arent letting your 360 connect to live you cant send any data back to ms for them to look at the 360 itself wont be able to analize the data to see if you should be banned or not.

They put SystemUpdates on the disks sometimes. Like Left 4Dead 2 has SystemUpdate 8507 on it.
This is why I asked about replacing the video partition on wave 5 disks with wave 4 cause that is where the Systemupdates are kept.

Yes, although the list in Crl.bin is a list of revoked consoles rather than banned consoles. The thing is, in this ban wave, people are being hit with the effects of revocation (gamertag corrupted when accessing it on another console for example), so it is possible that a future update on disc could contain a list of consoles banned, or flagged for a ban, in this ban wave and then just by updating, you would get hit with the negative side effects of a ban even though you kept your console offline. The list would be huge though, so whether it's feasible for them to place this on the disc remains to be seen. The current list in Crl.bin only has about 400 console IDs on it.

Im not sure how legal that is for them its one thing for them to ban you from live and then disable functions but to do it when your not using it online anymore is a toss up. But ms probly has it in their eula if they want to they can steal your house from under you and it be legal.

hmm this is a quite interesteing subject would ther not be a way to remove the crl.bin such as patching the game to an older wave?

I'm sure that the MS legal team can find some way to do it where it's "legal". I don't personally agree with it, I feel once you pay for something it's yours and you can do what you want to with it. If I wanted to put my 360 in a wood chipper I could, but I can't modify the firmware.
I have never had a gold membership, and have only gone on live to get title updates for games and a few demos. I checked the repair status thing though and got the 54420 error so I am sure I have been flagged. I don't want to loose the ability to install games to the hdd though. So that's why I suggested patching all future wave 5 games with wave 4 video. Cause if there are no new updates then no CRL.bin, no crl.bin no revocation. At least that's how I understand it.

That's a good idea. I was thinking the same thing myself. Of course this theorized update to the Crl.bin has yet to materialize.
$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

True, but I figure it's only a matter of time. Better to be safe than sorry especially if you know you are flagged for revocation or ban.

hey, i don't really understand how wave 5 will work - here's a summary of my situation
i got my xbox pro pre-modded in shanghai (it's NTSC-J, does this make any sort of difference?) last december. i don't know what version firmware it's got, what kind of drive it has, etc etc. i don't have a clue about modding 360s, only that mine is.
i've played on live since then, with no problems; my friend got banned last year during the nov ban wave (also using the same kind of pre-modded 360) and warned me about the ban wave this year because his 2nd xbox (which has worked fine, just like mine, since the last ban wave) was banned. i've been on a few times since the ban wave and have had no problems.
(question on the side: are people still getting banned? should i stay off til the ban wave blows over?)
now that l4d2 and assassin's creed 2 are coming out, i'm planning on getting them, but i don't get what playing them will do - if i play l4d2, i'll get banned? what about assassin's creed 2? and the big one: what about this new nov. 17th update? i'm reading on some forums that it'll have new piracy detection, others say it won't, and i'm confused.
so could anyone just give me a general diagnosis?
much obliged. thanks, all

Im not sure why everyone is worried. L4D2 still matches wave 4 format and boots on Ixtreme 1.61 for sammys and benq. It will also boot on Hitachi 1.51. Everyone else is stuck using activate.iso or patching the video and if your one of the lucky ones who havent gotten banned,(YET), then I don't recommend patching the disc to match wave 3. I know this because I have tested on BenQ 1.61, Samsung 1.61, Hitachi 1.51, and Lite-On 1.6. I only need activate.iso on the Lite-On drive. Cant wait til Ixtreme LT though as I was one of the X amount of people hit in this ban wave as well as everyone that I know except for 2 people.
