Hi,

Just got myself an Xbox 360 & has just recently been able to work out how to access pictures & music from my laptop via a wireless network.

What I would like to do now is access the Xbox hardrive from my laptop so I can upload/download from it.

Anyone know how to do this? the example I have found are methods using a wired connetcion but I need to do this wirelessly using my router.

Thanks

Wired/wireless - the method is the same.

You can use Windows Media Player. Add the required folders to WMP's library and then enable sharing.

If you're using Windows 7 you do it like this: -

1. Add the folders you want to share to WMP's library
2. Make sure your 360 is turned on
3. In WMP go to Stream - More streaming options....
4. You should see the 360 on the list of devices
5. Click on it and select "Allowed" from the drop-down list, then hit OK

For older versions of Windows, the method is slightly different so Google for a guide.

You can also use third party apps such as TVersity or PS3 Media Server (which works on the 360 despite the name).

If you're using a third party firewall you will need to open the required ports for streaming. Google for the ports and you'll find the ones you need to open. If you're using the firewall built into Windows, then the ports are sorted out for you.

EDIT - BTW, you cannot transfer files to and from the 360's hard drive in this way. What it enables you to do is view pictures stored on your PC, or stream music or videos stored on the PC, but that's all.

You can't. All you can do is view pics and stream music and videos from the PC.

The Xbox's HDD is mainly for storage of game related files and Live content. you can only streamm your PC's vids & pics.
