I'm planning on getting a PSP, but because they don't sell most of the game I like here and I don't trust importing games, I will have to download games (not meant to redeem myself or anything, I'm a downloader instead of a buyer, like every other downloader is).
So I googled for information about getting downloaded games to work on a PSP, and this site seems to be the most helpful. I took a look at the guides, but I'm totally confused. First of all, I don't know what firmware the PSP I'm planning to get (PSP Slim & lite 3000). Furthermore, there are tons guides of which many, to a PSP noob like me, seem like duplicates but taking a different approach. Some with things like a "Pandora battery" etcetera. Some guides even have links that don't tell anything because the topic creator cleaned out its guides, so if I follow the wrong guide I might end up at a dead end!
I can continue about that, but I'll get to the point. So I plan on buying a PSP Slim & Lite 3000. Which guide(s) do I need to follow to be able to play .cso files? Preferably guides that don't need me to modify the PSP by changing a battery, as knowing me that will go wrong. And is there anything else a PSP noob like me should know? Something that isn't explained (well) in the guide(s)?
Slim & Lite (3000) cannot currently run anything if the firmware is above 5.03 as there is no way to get into the system. Most new systems will have higher than this.
There have been reports of 6.10 being hacked but the hacker has said it will never be released so unfortunately there is currently nothing you can do.
Best advise - get a 2 year old 2000 or a 1000, if you do get a 3000 do not upgrade the firmware and wait and see
