Hello, I'm a bit lost with this term. I have my flashed liteon 360 (that i did) Just do not understand, what does wave3 mean, or wave4, etc? How does it affect me, or others. I have several game copies, and simply do not understand. I do not go xbox live, at the moment.
Thx for the education....DM

hahaha i wont say search

Wave 3 and 4 are the types of security on the discs. Madden 10 for example is wave 3. Call of duty modern warfare 2 is wave 4. It affects what type of i extreme you need to play that game. You need 1.61 to play all waves without any activate iso disc. if you still have 1.51 you can play all 4 waves. If you have 1.6 you need to use the activate iso disc everytime before you play. Also wave 5 is here apparently

i had searched other places, i found it came up with game lists, not what it meant, and if my ixtreme 1.6 flash will still work. been told i need to install activation for using the wave4 games. so far, all games i've downloaded and burned, must have been anything but wave4, for they all work fine. just another hurdle. thx for the info.

yea np, every game from November on will be at least wave 4 so you will need to use that activate iso disc each time before you play if you still have 1.6

John, I did get to read your entire post, until after I had replied. Strange? Ok, I understand now. I'll have to read up on this. Is this activation a 1 time install? Thx again

Hmm, I'm striking out here. I'll get it. Probably just flash the drive again, to avoid having to install this activation iso every time. This is going to start being like the days of DTV and emulation, if you're familiar with that. They were screwing around with us every day. Got to be to much of a pain to keep up with....

no its a little hard to explain so let me try as simple as i can.

You burn the 253 mb file that it is to just the first layer of the dual layer disc. Then you put ut in your 360 and say play dvd,the screen that says please place this xbox 360 game in your xbox 360 console will pop up. (What it does is tells the firmware to load the next game regardless of stealth.) So remove the disc and put in your wave 4 game and it will boot this one time for you. This activate iso disc is also called -one shot boot disc. You have to use this everytime before you play a wave 4 game

Yea it appears m$ has realized that if they change waves fast enough they will catch thousands of modders each time. c4eva is rumored to be making a new firmware call litetouch that will be undetectable and will be flashed one time and its done with forever, cross your fingers

It's nothing to do with security. Every 360 game has a video partition on it which contains a video that says "To play this disc, put it into an Xbox 360 console" in various languages. The different waves are just different versions of the partition. Waves 3, 4 and 5 also contain dashboard updates within the partition so that people can get the latest dashboard even if they only play offline.

It wouldn't even be an issue, but the firmware creators decided to make recent iXtreme firmwares have strict compliance with these video waves in order to prevent you from booting a copy with a missing, corrupt or badly patched video partition, as that would make you easily detectable on Live.

well i consider the partions being in different places as security since that is one way they catch modders flashing their boxes but thx for the extended info
