tried updating my liteon to 1.6 from 1.51 anyway
went through jungleflasher created dummy etc, backedup the key etc
when i got to the erase liteon part it came up device intro failed.
then the drive would no longer open...
i thought ahh thank the lord ive saved the key, then my pc crashes so i restart it, chkdisk came on startup then the pc started and now........... all my files have been erased.................including the key
i guess thats it now?

all your files have been erased?, chdsk is designed to look for bad sectors not erase a whole harddrive, which in itself should have been noticeable, it could be simply that your hard drive had many errors(hence the crash), and alot of your data was marked as bad sector as kelwan suggested a file recovery program should solve your problem
