Hi everyone. First post, so please be patient. Been reading these forums for quite a while as a guest, and finally got hit by the ban hammer last week.

But, I was able to save my hard drive save functionality by using the method to check if the console is banned without signing into live.

So here's my question, if I buy an unmodded arcade and use that to go online, while using my banned console to play off-line single player games, can I move my hard-drive back/forth between both machines without risk of it getting flagged as having data from a banned console?

My hope is that I can use the banned console to save games and earn achievements from offline single player burned games, and use the arcade to save games and earn achievements from online multiplayer with retail copies of games.

Any thoughts/help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

This has been asked lots of times over the years and I've never seen a person say that they've been banned for doing what you want to do. Many people do it cos they want to be able to register achievements earned on the offline console.

Whether MS will change their policy on this in the future (assuming they can even detect what people are up to), nobody can say, but yes - many people do what you're proposing and up to now it's totally safe.

EDIT - BTW, people have got gamertag bans for pre-release title play (Forza 3 for example), so don't try and register any achievements before the game is released.

Awesome. Thanks for the info.

In restrospect, getting hit by the hammer was a good thing for me. I always knew it would happen sooner or later, so I took pre-cautions by checking the error codes before logging in, and saved my console in the process.

Now, I dont have to be paranoid anymore, and can still enjoy the benefits of "altered" games offline, while using retail copies for those I truly want to play online.
