ps3 cant reformate my hard drive

hi i am trying to fix my ps3 in the recovery mode, reformate it and it says that it cant read my hard drive??

Might be a dead drive. I would connect it to a PC and do diagnostics from there. If it seems OK, do a low level format and then put it back in the PS3.

i pluged it into my other ps3 and it works. so i am going to reformatte it in my other ps3 and then try the reintstall

a low level is the formatting that takes two secondsÉ or the one that take three hours
i did a quick formate with my ps3 and when i am in the recover menu its still in french
i am going to do the long formate and get back to you

no luck with the formatting with the ps3 maybe a firmware issue???
do i try with my pc? i would formatte it with fat 32?

ok i might of made my question unclear sorry if thats the case
i will start from what i know.
i got this ps3 from a buddy and it dose not work he gave it to me to fix it.
he said he opened the ps3 after it stoped reading disks in opening, but it still got in the menu.
now what he broke what the harness with the red and black wire for the disk sensor i fixed that by welding them to the board.
now the console in the meantime he put his 60 gb hard drive in the new ps3 that he bought .
now when i try to start my ps3 it can not recognize that hard drive
but the hard drive works in his new one so the drive it good
iot dose not ask me to reformat the disk when i put it in the "broken" ps3 i have to go in to recovary mode for that fuction
when i do it says that my hard frive can not be still read

I would use diskpart to clear the drive completely, then format with NTFS, then delete the NTFS partition. This will wipe it completely; as it sounds like you still have system data on the drive.
