Alright I just got banned in the recent wave from microsoft and I am now left with a almost seemingly useless XBOX 360 without live. It also just so happened that they corrupted the data on my gamertag. I am planning on purchasing another 360, and not modding it. But here's the question: would i be able to continue to play modded games offline on the modbox with a certain gamertag on a portable memory card, and then later play on XBOX live on the unmodded console with that same gamertag and still be "okay" in the eyes of microsoft? In other words, Can I get the new console banned and/or corrupt my new gamertag? My concern is that I'm going to be wasting another $200 bucks for nothing...

Comments would be helpful.

Well obviously if the offline one is offline they can't detect you. So yes it is perfectly safe I would say.

NO! This has been said at least 20 times on this forum.

ONCE YOU ARE BANNED YOUR BANNED SYSTEM WILL CORRUPT YOUR PROFILE EVERY TIME YOU USE IT

You can however use a new profile to play games on your modded system offline but once you try and put that profile on your non modded unbanned system it will become corrupt to prevent people from getting gamerscore from a banned xbox.

Got banned yesterday, bought arcade today.

Put HDD from banned box on new arcade (unmodded, staying that way), couldn't load profile (corrupt). Tried to recover GT, said profile was corrupt, do I want to delete it - offered choices of just profile or profile and everything associated with it (DLC, saves). I chose 'just profile'.

I then just 'recovered GT' again, it downloaded fine. My saves, DLC and GS are all there and working great on my new unmodded system.

I only play two games online (GTAIV and Fifa 10) so they're the only originals I'll have to use and be careful not to scratch.

Yes, I bought a new xbox to play free mode and fifa.

Yep. Still gotta make a new profile on the banned box. I'm using the free mem cards that came with the 3 arcades I've been through. Internal mem will help too.

Edit: And as for the question by the TC, yeah it should be fine mate, if it's not modded you shouldn't get banned....theoretically :)

I did it, my new console isn't and won't be modified, so as long as MS do their bannings properly, there's nothing to fear.

I ended up deleting my profile off of my banned 360, recovered it to my mw2 edition (not modded), and use my memory card to take my gt back and forth between consoles without issues. Any achievements gained on the banned 360 are obviously lost when you switch back to the non-banned console but gt is not corrupt. If it does become corrupt then delete and recover again. no different than taking your profile from your 360 to a friends.
