I was hoping to ask for advice on how to dig out all the audio files from some of my xbox titles I'm a sound engineer and I produce music on the side and work with a lot of sampled media however I'm not so well off that I can afford to pay through the nose for expensive sample packs, it's especially frustrating as I know I have thousands of sound bites sitting here in front of me that I cant access. I am a fan of gaming music, ideally I'd like to write a whole album solely based around Xbox audio samples. There is a lot of 8-bit music out there and retro computer game samples/vst's already but it would be really nice to work from a library of the more cutting edge sounds that are used by game developers currently.
So, how can I rip these audio files from xbox discs? How would they be converted to wav? What software would I need to use? Do I need to hack any hardware around like my XBox hard drive or can I use an app to extract them straight off of the discs somehow?
I'd apprecciate any guidence anyone here can give me as I am quite new to hacking/moding.
Sorry I should have mentioned I'm after 360 samples, mostly from Fable/Fable 2, Bioshock and Fallout 3, I do sample audio from them when I can but for the most part the samples are pretty well buried amongst all the other audio, I often find there's a sample I want to use but there are to many other elements that get in the way, either other background sounds or sound effects etc, getting hold of the raw samples would be best.
There are also thousands of them on these discs, Fable 2 I think has something like 9000 audio clips, just this one game has enoughc audio samples to make a heafty sample labrary.
What are my options, I know there are many ways to hack these games, but I have no idea which would be best way, I know my girlfriend would kick my ass if I screwed up our box, but I do have a spare hard drive from a dead xbox that I can use if that would help?
