NDS files???? - thats DS roms, you need an emulator than it may play a few - but very slow at the moment.
Format your memory stick with the PSP, put PSP.iso's and .cso's in the ISO folder (not in the video folder that is inside)

It goes in the folder PSP/Game/(NDS EMU/EBoot) put in the complete folder not just an eboot with the other files
Dont give things long names, this can cause the corrupted data issue (NDS EMU is fine)

First of all you may need a new emulator. The new GEN firmware isn't made to work with 1.5 kernel yet.
I would look for an emulator that works with the slim or 3.xx kernel or higher. That will work when you store it in the psp\game\ folder.
Not every emulator out there will work with it now. I really recommend using 5.00m33-6, it's complete and can run all homebrew.

You will not be able to log into PSN using CFW at this time.

Yes, remote play is fine. It's just an ad hoc connection to the PS3.
