hi i have a transcend 8gb microsd in a photofast adaptor.i have had this setup for about 2 months, today i got a kingston 8gb microsd card and i installed it to the photofast adaptor, now with both kingston and the transcend adaptor am i suppose to get some type of box upon the psp bootup that tells me if i want to format the card? i booted it up and i still see only the transcend card working, any ideas on how to get the kingston working?

I think you have to format the cards when their both in together. So backup the info you have on your old card then add the new card into the adaptor then use the psp to format the cards. Copy back the files and then see if it works.

i have one, back up the card you used on it's own, format them in the psp in the cr-5400 if it fails swap the cards over in slot 1 and 2 slot 1 is nearest the gold connectors, mine failed to format 1st three times then it was a success 2 x 8gb shows as 15gb, it works better in the psp formatting and all rather that a pc card reader. can't have a single card in slot 2, slot 1 must always have a card in it.

first one i had did that it was faulty, memory card light on psp did not always flash erratically, sometimes a constant steady flash where it struggling, get new cr-5400 and try again send the one you have back as faulty. remember read the care instructions before use they are so fragile. the cr-5400 you have is defiantly faulty, have any of the white plastic strips snapped over the gold connector? did you accidentally put micro sd in wrong way once?

i tried just putting the kingston by itself in slot 1 and i get a blinking orange light when inserting the kingston microsd card,i clicked on format and it tells me theres no memory card in the psp menu, also the pc reads and writes to the microsd card fine using microsd to usb adaptor, the transcend works fine in slot 1,no matter which combo i do the kingston flashes orange in slot 1

when psp is on and a steady blinking light eject and then put straight back in the cr-5400, the light should go mental (may have to try a few times fairly quickly if so it will probably be a pain in the *** and need this everytime you turn psp on) if it does then format it, if you can't get rid of steady blinking light cr-5400 is defective, if you get another cr-5400 you should be ok my defective one came from dealextreme.com got on on ebay worked fine.

What I did below for both my photofast cards without any problem:
1) Format #1 microsd card in slot 1.
2) Remove #1 microsd card in slot 1.
3) Format #2 microsd card in slot 1.
4) Put #1 microsd card in slot 2.
5) Format again.
Hope this helps.

Buy Sandisk micro SD's they seem to read faster, don't take it in and out all the time, they are quite fragile
