Hi guys i have been trying for the last 5 hours to flash my Benq drive with the 1.61 firmware
I have tried, Jungle Flash, Iprep and Doscflash and they all seem to be having the same problem putting the drive into vendor mode 0x73?
I've gone through many tutorials which all say switch off after pressing yes etc, have tried thousands of combinations and am now at a loose end.
The only thing i can put it down to is the my PCI/SATA controller is not compatable, how would i found out if so.
Or could this be something else im missing like needing to unlock the drive first, ive installed all the programs and patched to make these programs work but they all get stuck at putting the drive into vendor mode
Any help would be great
Cheers guys

if you don't have a via 6421 card, stop wasting time.

Have you tried using the Jungleflasher support channel on IRC? The people there have helped me several times.

There are many different chipsets that are able to flash, I myself flash 360s on a near daily basis and I do not have a VIA chipset at all.
I'm definitely not ruling out his chipset as a possible cause, but I have seen newer people make some mistakes that seem fairly obvious to most people because of their inexperience.
In order to nail down the cause we would need to talk to him while he was at the computer in order to verify some things.
That being said, what chipset do you actually have Max?

I haven't heard of any drives that will flash on one chipset but not another. I use an Nforce chipset personally without trouble.

Some drives will work on that chipset but not all. The card is $10, is it really that big of a deal? And the card works on all drives.

If you don't VIA chipset, then don't waste your time. It won't always work.

I have to disagree with you here, Gameover9. I've flashed at least 50 drives with my NForce chipset and haven't had an issue with any of them. Admittedly the sample size is somewhat small for a scientific trial, but considering the average sample size someone would have it is fairly expansive and I feel should be representative.
