I used iprep and it dumped the firmware, then it failed at the flash stage.

Luckily I had the original .bin, but when I load it in jungleflasher, firmware toolkit it says wrong file size when I look for the dvd key.

The CFW.bin just comes up as XXXXXXX as the key.

How can I get the dvd key from the original backup, if all the tools i've tried say its the wrong filesize?
Is there a way to extract the key manually?
I tried it on another computer with a different version of windows and got the same error.

In windows it says the orig.bin is 256kb

If the firmware flash never began before it errored out, you could just re-dump the firmware.

It's a good idea to check and make sure that your firmware dump and CFW is legit before reflashing to avoid situations like this.

$38 on new discs -- Check
$15 on burn after burn that showed as a DVD -- Check
$11 on new laser -- Check
$28 on new multimeter -- Check

It did, I didn't get an error until the end.
So i'm pretty sure it was a bad flash.

But I used dosflash to erase and flash the orig .bin and I get red lights. I didn't think to check the firmware first.

I'm just wondering if the dvd key is in the bad dump .bin and if there is any way of retrieving it.

If you are technically inclined, one thing you could try is opening the .bin file using a hex editor program like Hex Workshop. I do not know the key location in the .bin file, but if you search out values that are the same length (4 bytes?) you may be able to find it. If it is in there in the first place.

If you got a bad dumb and flashed a bad key to the drive, I believe you are doomed as there is no way to dumb the original again, being you tried to flash it and it failed at the end. If the key you dumped is good than all you have to do is reflash but it seems to me you got a bad dumb.

Thanks, I just googled it and it says you need to copy the values from 4000-4200

I'll give it a go I've used hex editors before.

What is a bad dump though, the whole file is messed up, or some parts did dump properly?

Theres 256kb of info there so it must have dumped something?

3 red lights? What is the error code? Sounds to me like you have more than one problem here.
