Hey guys just wanted to know how many of you believe MS 360 is one big rip off. Over the years i have purchased 3 xbox 360 and of which one was banned from live. My kids love MS and i purchased them a console each for there room. One of the lads had there console modded and got banned although he never played back up games online. So i purchased him another this time a cod Elite edition. I payed £249.99 for the console and purchased him fifa 10 £40 and now i'm being asked for monthly online service. The lads normally get around paying this by creating a new profile or something not sure. Any how i recently purchased myself a ps3 and find there online service much better and it is free. My question to you all which console do you now think is better value for money with ms clamping down on modded systems?

this isnt the first time MS has banned people. they ban people every year and im sure when a new firmware comes out every moder will mod thir 360s again and next year there will be another million moded consoles on live. I got banned but i still went on and bought a 360, I have not moded it yet but i will when a new firmware is released. the only thing that is making me want to buy a PS3 is these 4 games
God of war 3
Killzone
Uncharted 1,2
and Heavenly sword
there is nothing ells special about the PS3. if the 360 was not hackable i would of bought a PS3 becasue everything ells is genraly the same but since 360 is hackable so im just gonna stick with 360 for now, if the PS3 gets hacked im defiantly switching to PS3.
This is just MY opinion

My Opinion is xbox 360. Ps3 online is free but (TO ME) it sucks. Yes, you do have to pay for xbox live, but it is worth it. As far as games, I bought a ps3 when it first came out, and to be honest it was a waist of money (I do like the blue ray). So you asked which console do you now think is better value for money with ms clamping down on modded systems? Key word is Modded systems, so you dont pay for games. I would rather have a banned system with over 60-100 copied games then to have a ps3 w/internet and 10 games. Also yes xbox 360 has red ring problem, just learn how to fix it yourself and save money.

Don't know how people can say PSN online sucks when they don't own a PS3. It's the exact same thing as XBL. I have a PS3 and 360. I play all SP games on 360 because its modded, and get all online games for PS3 since it's free. Sure 360 has a bigger community, but does it really matter if you can get a game going?

I won't comment on the online features of each console since I don't use them, however I will say that Xbox Live seems pretty cheap at about two dollars a month.
I enjoy my Xbox quite a bit, if I get banned for modding, well that's my own fault (and yours too). I imagine I'll enjoy my PS3 as well when I get one (though I REALLY hate their controller design).
The bottom line for me seems to be this: about 80% of people who get RROD or other hardware failures on their Xbox's end up buying new ones. If the system really did suck, I don't think this would be the case.

Pretty sure these threads are against the rules.
Nonetheless the Xbox Live feature is the best of all 3 7th consoles. Overall, the PS3 is the best console in my opinion due to its hardware will likely support a lot more innovation and has... what to me seems a more impressive graphical representation of games (better resolution).
The only reason I bought a 360 was because it could be modded. I only buy PS3 exclusives like Killzone 2, Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, LittleBig Planet and etc
For online games like Call of Duty and the rest I used the 360 because games were free and the better online gameplay.
If mods cannot get around the 360 I will be switching entirely to the PS3.

The excuse that you buy a 360 because it can be modded (to play pirated games) is... so flippant. If you like a game, have enough respect to go out and buy it. Or, at the very least, rent it. But that's getting onto another topic, so...
Me, I'm a regular PS3 player, but my brother plays on the 360 and I have to say that the Live network is very well-designed. (If it's asking you to pay to use it, then it damn well better be.)
In regards to your question, though - which console I think is the better value considering MS is clamping down on modded consoles - you have to take into account that the PS3 doesn't have any modding to begin with. (There are mods that allow backwards-compatible PS3s to play backup PS2 games, but that's about the extent of it.) If that's a major drawback to you, then you might be better off with a 360, even if you have to suffer the occasional ban.
To answer your question, I'd say the PS3 is the better choice in the long run simply because it has much more potential than the 360. By the time the 360 becomes obsolete, though, MS will probably have created a new system that can more realistically compete with the PS3.
Quote: If the system really did suck, I don't think this would be the case.
The system itself might suck - as in the hardware that was first used - but the reason so many people continue to buy replacement consoles is, and this is simply conjecture on my part, because they simply enjoy the 360 enough to want to buy another version of it.
(It would all be a great ol' troll if MS came out and admitted, "Yeah, we intentionally RROD-ed the 360 just because we knew people would buy more and more of them."
I'd laugh.)

Whoever owns both machines, and says PSN is better than XBL is demented. You know better. The ONLY thing better about PSN is that it's free. Live costs because it's a better experience. You get what you pay for.
And by the way, if the PS3 was hackable, Sony would be banning people too.

I bought a PS3 early on and the main reason I didn't like it was lack of games. I ended up selling it to my brother and getting an XBOX 360. Now, however, the gaming titles has evened out quite a bit so this isn't a huge advantage for MS anymore.
The advantages of the PS3 IMO are the blu-ray player, built-in WIFI, and free internet gaming.
Now, I have experienced both and I can say that XB Live is better overall than PSN. Not hugely, but there seem to be more people (and MUCH more people with microphones) on LIVE. Also, the achievements / avatars make it more "fun". As for movies, I have an LG super multi-blue drive in my HTPC that I play my movies on so I don't need the blu-ray support. Also, my router sits right beside my 360 so I don't need wireless.
Now, the biggest reason I don't like the PS3 = The controller. I have tried so hard to like the dualshock/sixaxis types of controllers but I just can't stand them. I think the 360 controller is 100x better. The analog sticks on the PS3 controllers are horribly placed and your thumb slides right off of them.
So, in conclusion, all modding aside, I still prefer the 360 over the PS3.

Although i liked most of the post......
WTF r u talking aout the 360 becoming obsolete? They are practically the same system the only difference is ps3 has blue ray support. Usaully the gaming system generation lasts 5 years but this one (7th i think) is lasting longer, prob about 8 years or around 2012-2013 so i dont see the ps3 growing a better graphics card and better processor. You talk like the ps3 is going to just magically get so much better than an 360. Truth is m$ caught up and in some ways already surpased sony so i would think the next system will really show m$ total all emcompossing technology off. But as of now (me being a m$ fanboy) they are about the same in every way now and it's really just a toss up based on a few features of preference

It's
the
same
damn
thing
WHAT EXPERIENCE? are you dense? Do you enjoy watching the dashboard more than actually playing a game?
Live costs because it's a better experience? Yea, I'm sure that has nothing to do with M$ being greedy. A corp. that charges for little toys and custom clothes for your avatar. Not even that, charges you for FREE content like music videos or show episodes.
Damn trolls. I'm sure you will come up with some clever troll reply, but don't bother. I won't be checking this thread.
