First of all i have been fixing game consoles for about 2 years and i co-own a business in the city I live in. I have a LOT of experience with 360s but not so much with ps3's. I have replaced probably 15 lasers and or laser decks in the past. Recently I received a 1st gen PS3 (fat) with a "bad laser." The laser deck number is KEM-400AAA and the laser is KES-400A.

OK now the problem, I replaced the laser and went on to testing. I tested it first with everything assembled and put together and when i put a disk in you can hear the disk spin and the laser searching around but the PS3 doesnt recognize that a disk has been inserted, so i took everything apart and set a disk on the motor and put that white magnet on top and powered on the PS3. The disk will spin fine and the laser will search the disk and select the correct laser to use (blue for games and blu-ray and red for dvds and cds) but then the laser will dock by the motor and the disk will just continue to spin with the laser on but not moving. I have never seen this problem. it acts like a disk was never inserted. any advice would be appreciated. oh and the PS3 is up to date and i have tried all resets options and reformatting the HDD.
